Deconstructing Tradition, Redefining Fashion
Before launching his own label, Jun studied at ESMOD Seoul in 1992 and worked for various renowned fashion houses. In 1999, he founded his first independent brand, Lone Costume, which gained significant recognition. With JUUN.J, he made his Paris Fashion Week debut in 2007 and quickly established himself in the international high-fashion scene.
The brand is known for breaking gender boundaries and deconstructing traditional menswear, transforming classic silhouettes into artistic, unexpected, and futuristic designs. Jun describes his approach as "Street Tailoring", a fusion of youth culture and refined tailoring. His collections feature oversized cuts, unconventional layering, and experimental materials, redefining luxury streetwear.
JUUN.J pieces include quilted leather or latex pants, structured trench coats, hooded shirts, and avant-garde jumpsuits for both men and women. Skirts, coats with crocodile textures, and leather balaclavas further emphasize the futuristic and rebellious nature of the brand. The bold, oversized silhouettes make it clear that these designs are not for those who prefer to blend in.
JUUN.J is available in high-end boutiques worldwide, including locations in Berlin and Hamburg, Germany. A highlight of the brand is its futuristic flagship store in Seoul’s upscale Gangnam district. The store is entirely black, with no windows or traditional display areas. Covering 396 square meters, the store plays with light and shadow, creating an immersive, almost sci-fi-like shopping experience that mirrors Jun’s avant-garde aesthetic.
Over the years, JUUN.J has engaged in several notable collaborations. In 2015/2016, the brand teamed up with adidas to release a military-inspired ZX 8000 sneaker, featuring Velcro straps, glossy soles, and perforated leather in white and black.
Another significant collaboration was with Reebok. In August 2021, JUUN.J reimagined the Pump Omni Zone II, a sneaker made famous during the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. The shoes featured an extended heel cage, embossed JUUN.J branding on the toe box, and were available in brown, white, and black leather. Earlier partnerships with Reebok included monochrome versions of the Instapump Fury and the Pump Court, a model inspired by an unreleased 1995 Steve Smith prototype, modernized with metallic leather and mesh uppers.
In December 2024, JUUN.J expanded its collaboration with PUMA, redesigning the PUMA Speedcat sneaker. The collection included high- and low-top variations featuring structured designs, dark color palettes, and subtle Juun.J branding.
Beyond footwear, JUUN.J has partnered with brands such as Umbro and GORE-TEX, creating functional yet stylish outdoor collections. Jun’s own footwear designs often include bold colors, platform soles, and futuristic details, further cementing his avant-garde approach to high fashion.
JUUN.J continues to push the boundaries of modern fashion, merging streetwear, luxury, and innovation in a way that consistently captivates the fashion industry.
