RHUDE is a Los Angeles-based fashion brand founded in 2015 by Rhuigi Villaseñor. The label is defined by a fusion of luxury craftsmanship and streetwear aesthetics, reflecting both the founder’s personal journey and contemporary cultural themes. Villaseñor developed his passion for fashion design early, as his mother was a seamstress, and he was exposed to garment construction from a young age. Born in the Philippines, he moved to the United States as a teenager, where he was heavily influenced by American skate and streetwear culture. He studied art history and completed an internship at the American fashion label Shaun Samson. Today, RHUDE’s collections serve as a symbolic representation of his journey in the fashion industry and are showcased seasonally at Paris Fashion Week.
The brand’s designs are highly versatile. While some pieces are heavily rooted in streetwear, others exhibit a sleek, sophisticated aesthetic. RHUDE’s collection includes bomber jackets, printed trousers, bucket hats, caps, bodysuits, hoodies, shirts, baggy pants, footwear, and various lifestyle items. Many pieces feature bold prints, oversized lettering, and vibrant colors. The RHUDE name frequently appears on garments, often paired with distinctive graphic elements. Floral prints and patterned shirts are also a key component of many collections, bridging the gap between casualwear and refined design. The brand has also developed several in-house sneaker models, primarily in minimalist designs with a white base, sometimes accented with color details or a prominent logo. One standout model is the RHUDE Sherpa-Runner, which features a rubber sole and a plush sherpa-lined upper.
RHUDE has collaborated with numerous renowned brands. In May 2022, it partnered with luxury retailer The Webster for an exclusive 11-piece collection celebrating the Grand Prix in Miami. Villaseñor drew inspiration from Tamiya toy cars and the vibrant colors of South Beach to create a nostalgic aesthetic. The collection includes jackets, t-shirts, hoodies, swim shorts, and hats. One of the highlights is the Grand Prix jacket in cobalt blue and off-white, featuring a striped ribbed baseball collar, welt pockets at the waist, snap-button closures, and ribbed cuffs and hem. The front and back are adorned with graphic embroidery and oversized RHUDE lettering.
Beyond fashion, RHUDE has expanded into unexpected areas, such as a limited-edition collaboration with kitchen appliance brand Instant Brands. In March 2021, RHUDE partnered with Canada Goose to create an outerwear collection in honor of the NBA All-Star Game. The lineup included classic Canada Goose silhouettes such as the Portage Jacket, Macmillan Parka, Freestyle Vest, and Chilliwack Bomber. Each piece was detailed with Canada Goose insignias, NBA branding, and RHUDE patches, emphasizing the triple collaboration.
RHUDE has also established itself as a major player in the sneaker collaboration space. The brand’s founder is a passionate sneaker enthusiast and has consistently pushed for innovative designs. In September 2020, RHUDE collaborated with Vans to reinterpret the Diamo and Acer Ni models, incorporating a striking bandana finish. The Acer Ni was released in a patchwork suede combination of red, orange, yellow, purple, blue, and green, while the Diamo was crafted from classic white canvas. Another significant partnership was with Puma, initially for a motorsport-inspired collection, followed by the release of the RHUDE X Puma Cell King in August 2020. The sneaker blends football and running shoe influences with a luxurious touch. The upper, inspired by Puma’s King football boot, is made of black leather with decorative stitching on the forefoot for added structure. Puma’s signature formstripe appears in gray suede, while RHUDE branding is embossed on the lace tab. The midsole was intentionally yellowed, complementing the gold-toned CELL cushioning unit. White or black laces and co-branded insoles complete the design.
RHUE’s latest sneaker project is not a collaboration but is equally noteworthy. For its Spring/Summer collection, the brand reintroduced its Rhecess silhouette in new colorways. These basketball sneakers are available in both high-top and low-top versions and are crafted from premium calf leather. Manufactured in Italy, they are characterized by a vintage aesthetic and come in four color combinations: white/black, white/forest green, white/royal blue, and white/orange. Each pair features a rubber outsole and a leather logo application at the heel.
In 2022, Rhuigi Villaseñor was appointed creative director of the heritage fashion house Bally. This move was intended to elevate his influence in the luxury fashion industry, but he parted ways with the company in 2023 to refocus on RHUDE.
The brand’s latest collection, presented at Paris Fashion Week, is titled New Money. RHUDE is a visionary Los Angeles-based label that seamlessly merges fashion with broader cultural influences, bringing its signature aesthetic to both clothing and lifestyle products.
