Jacquemus is a French luxury label founded in 2009 by Simon Porte Jacquemus.

Jacquemus is a French luxury label founded in 2009 by Simon Porte Jacquemus. Within a few years, it became one of the most sought-after brands in the fashion world. The brand is known for its sensuality, distinctive cuts, the use of premium fabrics, and a subtle approach to prints and patterns. Its designs are rooted in a minimalist aesthetic that blends elegance with a youthful, unconventional ease. The 2017 release of the “Le Chiquito” bag became an instant icon for the brand. In addition to influences from the art world, Jacquemus draws strong inspiration from the designer’s native South of France.

Simon Porte Jacquemus launched his label at the age of 19, following the sudden passing of his mother, naming the brand after her maiden name to honor her. He studied fashion for a few months at the École supérieure des arts et techniques de la mode (ESMOD) in Paris but taught himself much of his design expertise. Early on, he used unconventional promotional tactics—such as having his friends wear his creations during Paris’ Vogue Fashion Night Out in 2010—to attract attention to his brand. In 2012, he was invited to showcase at Paris Fashion Week, and by 2015, he won a special prize from the LVMH jury. From that moment, his fame grew rapidly, and his designs were worn by international celebrities.

The brand offers a wide range of collections, and since 2019, it has expanded into menswear. Its creations include shirts, hoodies, trousers, skirts, swimwear, and dresses, along with sunglasses, jewelry, and accessories. The collections are often inspired by Mediterranean influences, blending oversized silhouettes with body-hugging cuts. Jacquemus pieces are rarely patterned and tend to be monochrome, standing out through their unique shapes and subtle details, such as the Jacquemus gold-lettering logo.

The label is also known for its runway shows in extraordinary locations, such as the lavender fields of Provence, a beach in Hawaii, or a wheat field in France in 2019. In June 2021, the designer decided to break away from the traditional fashion calendar and present collections independently of seasonal constraints. The brand itself described this move as “a shift towards a more adaptable, modern approach.”

Another highlight that underscores the modernity of Jacquemus is its small-scale, pop-up stores, designed to resemble vending machines. These colorful, eye-catching retail spaces offer items such as flower bouquets wrapped in Jacquemus fabric or exclusive accessories.

Until June 2022, Jacquemus had not engaged in any brand collaborations. That changed when the designer announced a partnership with sportswear giant Nike via Instagram, sparking significant excitement. Simon Porte Jacquemus commented: “I always told myself that if I were to collaborate one day, it would be with Nike.” The 15-piece womenswear collection took nearly three years to develop, blending sportswear with high fashion and giving Nike pieces a fresh, elevated aesthetic. The collection also introduced the first Jacquemus x Nike sneakers. The collaboration was a major success, paving the way for further releases, including a second collection in 2023.

Beyond fashion, Jacquemus is now expanding into new industries. In February 2025, the brand announced a partnership with L’Oréal to launch its own beauty line. This move marks Jacquemus’ entry into the cosmetics sector, reinforcing its ambition to extend beyond fashion.

Jacquemus is a luxury brand, yet both the designer and his pieces maintain a sense of accessibility and authenticity. The brand actively engages with its community through social media, particularly Instagram, offering a personal and immersive look into its creative world. Simon Porte Jacquemus has a unique way of presenting collections, setting himself apart from other luxury fashion houses. His innovative approach was officially recognized in March 2024, when he was awarded the title of "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres," one of France’s highest cultural honors, for his contributions to fashion.

Jacquemus collections can be found at leading luxury retailers worldwide, including Dover Street Market, Net-a-Porter, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The brand is also stocked at select boutiques such as Opening Ceremony in New York, Broken Arm in Paris, and Gago in Aix-en-Provence. Since 2022, Jacquemus has operated its own flagship stores, with locations in Paris, Dubai, Capri, Saint-Tropez, London, and, as of 2024, New York. Further expansions are planned for Los Angeles and Miami in 2025.

In an interview with Vogue, Simon Porte Jacquemus hinted that further collaborations with Nike are on the horizon.
