With LightSpray, On continues to push its vision of automated performance manufacturing forward. Near Busan, South Korea, the brand is opening its second global production facility, adding 32 additional robots to its manufacturing network.

Following the initial launch in Zurich with four robotic units, LightSpray’s global production capacity is set to increase thirtyfold in 2026. Further international expansion is already in motion.

Since its introduction in 2024, On has continuously refined the technology. To enable scaling, new multi-robot coordination systems and clearly defined quality standards were developed.

The new facility in South Korea demonstrates that the technology pioneered in Switzerland can be replicated globally while maintaining consistently high performance standards. Looking ahead, On plans to establish additional nearshore locations, including in the United States and Europe.

“The opening of our second LightSpray factory is a monumental milestone for us in mastering this advanced manufacturing process”, says On Co-Founder Caspar Coppetti.

“I want to sincerely congratulate the tremendous effort and dedication of the entire team who made this possible.

LightSpray is a pinnacle example of how On continues to innovate through Swiss Engineering, dramatically changing the way we can create high-performance shoes with unmatched efficiency, sustainability, and performance results.”

“The beauty of LightSpray™ is that we can precisely program each robot, whether in Zurich or Busan, to execute precisely choreographed movements to craft each shoe’s unique look and feel,” says On's Chief Innovation Officer Scott Maguire.

“The innovation remains distinctly On, distinctly Swiss—made for the world. South Korea represents the perfect territory to learn and implement learnings for our global expansion.”

With the opening of the new production facility, the LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper also makes its debut. For the first time, the upper of the performance model is sprayed in South Korea.

Featuring a full-length Helion HF Hyper foam midsole and the Sprayed in Korea marking on the outsole, the shoe will release in limited quantities on March 5, 2026.

The global launch follows on April 16, 2026.

Expanding LightSpray from competition models into everyday training shoes is part of On’s long-term product strategy.

Going forward, the technology will be made available to a broader audience beyond elite athletes. Additional releases featuring LightSpray are planned for later this year.
