PUMA continues its partnership with British tannery Charles F. Stead, once again turning the spotlight on one of its most iconic silhouettes: the PUMA Suede.

Named after its signature upper and celebrated for its nostalgic colorways, the classic returns in a particularly refined, high-quality execution.

In collaboration with Charles F. Stead, the Suede receives a premium upgrade that seamlessly blends craftsmanship and sportstyle.

The current drop presents the model in a stripped-back, refined execution that stays true to its original detailing. It arrives in three colorways: “Honey Butter,” “PUMA Black,” and “Orange Glo.”

The latter references the legendary Knicks-inspired orange shade that PUMA once developed exclusively for Walt Frazier.

Since 1825, Charles F. Stead has been synonymous with exceptionally soft, natural suede. An elaborate tanning process sets its materials apart, earning an international reputation for quality.

Each pair also comes with a special Charles F. Stead hangtag, crafted from the same material as the upper.

At the beginning of the year, PUMA underscored the model’s cultural relevance with “Suede House” during Paris Fashion Week.

The immersive installation reframed the silhouette’s past, present, and future through a contemporary lens, introducing its story to a new generation.

The Story of the PUMA Suede

In 1968, the model was originally introduced as the “Crack” for the Olympic Games in Mexico City and became world-famous when Tommie Smith raised it on the podium. In 1973, Walt Frazier ushered in the “Clyde” era before the name “Suede” took hold, referencing the shoe’s signature upper material.

With the rise of B-boy crews and hip-hop culture, the silhouette secured its place in street culture. When it arrived in the UK in the 1980s, it became known as the “States.” This multifaceted DNA is what continues to define the Suede as a true icon today.
