Puma x Black Forest Velophasis "Into the Nature" Release Information
October 7, 2023 will be the release date for the third model in the Black Forest sneaker collection created by global sports company PUMA in collaboration with Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH.
After the opening with the Slipstream Lo "Kuckuck" and the second model RS Trck "Schwarzwaelder Kirsch", the Velophasis "Into the Nature", which has the fabulous nature of the Black Forest as its theme, completes the trilogy.
In addition to the cuckoo clock, Black Forest cake and Bollen hat, the beautiful natural landscape is also one of the trademarks of the Black Forest.
"Through the cooperation with PUMA, we can draw attention to Black Forest topics worldwide in an innovative way, which is a great opportunity that I find quite unique," says Hansjörg Mair, Managing Director of Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH.
"In the Black Forest, nature is not just a backdrop for a vacation; on the contrary, nature easily becomes the actual vacation motif here. With its extensive forests, the sparse mountain heights and peaks with magnificent distant views, the mysterious cirque lakes (Karseen) and romantic valleys, it is the perfect place for anyone who likes to be active in nature. By the way, almost the entire area of Germany's largest low mountain range is covered by the Black Forest National Park, the two nature parks and the biosphere area. Because preserving the unique character of the Black Forest landscape and biodiversity, as well as nature-friendly tourism, is important to us."
Anja Egger, Head of Marketing Central Europe at PUMA says about the cooperation: "The collaboration between us as a traditional sports company and the Black Forest as a vacation region with so many internationally known icons just fits. We are therefore very pleased to release the Black Forest in selected sneaker boutiques in the year of our 75th anniversary with the three-part Black Forest Sneaker Collection."
The Black Forest in southwestern Germany is a fascinating mosaic of dense forests, rolling hills, clear lakes and idyllic villages. It owes its name to the dark fir and spruce forests that dominate large parts of the region and bathe it in a mysterious green.
But alongside these impressive forests rise mountains like the Feldberg, which stands out as the highest elevation at 1.493 meters.
While hikers and skiers appreciate these mountain ranges, valleys attract visitors with natural spectacles such as the Triberg Waterfalls, one of the highest waterfalls in Germany. Waters such as Titisee, Mummelsee and Schluchsee shine like jewels in the midst of this landscape and offer recreation seekers a picturesque backdrop.
But the Black Forest is not only characterized by its geographical nature. It is also home to a rich flora and fauna. From deciduous trees that stretch alongside the characteristic conifers to wildlife such as deer, wild boar and foxes - the biodiversity is impressive.
Particularly noteworthy is the reintroduction of the lynx in recent years. Numerous nature reserves help to protect and preserve this unique environment.
Rivers and streams, including such famous ones as the Rhine and the Danube, meander through the landscape. At higher altitudes, one also encounters raised moorlands, which are home to very special vegetation and fauna.
This picture is rounded off by centuries-old cultural landscapes, characterized by agricultural use, meadows, pastures and orchards. In its entirety, the Black Forest is a true paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts and attracts numerous visitors from all over the world every year.
Model description / Velophasis “Into the Nature”
Green underground where you walk and stand. The Puma x Black Forest "Into the Nature" brings some photosynthesis to your outfit with its "Grassy Green" accents and washed out green midsole.
The upper is made up of matte and glossy panels on a coarse green mesh. The sole comes with PWRPlate technology, which can also be found on current Puma Performance models.
On the left insole we find a small water lily, a reference to the many bodies of water in the Black Forest such as the legendary Mummelsee at 1.036 meters above sea level.
For those who want to tone down the appearance of the very eye-catching model, an extra pair of laces in black is included.
The Velophasis was created by combining various references from Puma's 2000s running archive. Back then, running shoes were often voluminous and rugged silhouettes that stood out from the sleek designs of the 1990s.
A distinctive feature of this period was the combination of different materials such as mesh, leather and synthetics to achieve functional benefits. In addition, soles were often complex in their architecture, with multi-layered designs, highlighted areas and also visible cushioning elements.
Color-wise, the 2000s brought a departure from the earthy tones of earlier decades and instead welcomed a palette of brighter and more vibrant colors.
Technological innovations were continuously introduced that optimized running comfort and performance. In addition, this trend was strongly influenced by pop culture, with celebrities and musicians playing a major role in shaping popular models and styles.
As the Y2K style is currently experiencing a revival, retro versions of the former successful models, or as in the case of the Velophasis, inspired designs from said decade are coming back.
Each PUMA x Black Forest Velophasis "Into the Nature" comes with a piece of Black Forest in the shoe box:
A tree planting kit for a spruce, one of the most common and dominant trees in the Black Forest.
The spruce is like our environment: persistent and humble. With the tree planting kit in a biodegradable pot - made from renewable raw materials - you can grow your own tree and give nature a precious gift.
