The brand is a firm fixture in the luxury accessories sector and has built up a broad global presence over the years.

The story of MCM begins in 1976 in Munich, Germany. The brand was founded by Michael Cromer and aimed to present European craftsmanship and the quality of luxury leather goods in a way that is both modern and appealing to an international clientele. The name MCM is an acronym for “Mode Creation Munich” and refers to the brand's creative and fashionable approach.

MCM's design aesthetics are often inspired by rich European history and culture, and their products feature high-quality materials, precise workmanship, and an eye-catching, often monogrammed design. One of her most famous creations is the MCM Visetos print, a monogrammed pattern that can be found on many of her products.

In the 1980s, MCM became a popular brand among global jet setters thanks to its stylish and functional luggage collections. Their suitcases and bags, often decorated with the iconic MCM logo, became a symbol of luxury and status.

After a few turbulent years in the 1990s and early 2000s, MCM experienced a revival under the new ownership of Sungjoo Group and led by Sung-Joo Kim, who took over the company in 2005. It has globally oriented the brand while emphasizing its European origin and heritage.

Today, MCM has boutiques on some of the world's most famous and exclusive shopping streets, including Rue Saint-Honoré in Paris and Madison Avenue in New York. The brand's range now includes not only luggage and handbags, but also clothing, shoes and accessories for men and women.

In addition, MCM has carried out a number of collaborations with other fashion and lifestyle brands in recent years to further increase its presence and relevance in the global fashion world. This includes partnerships with brands such as Puma, Phenomenon and A Bathing Ape.

Broadly speaking, MCM today stands for a dynamic mix of traditional European craftsmanship, modern design and a global approach. It has established itself as a brand that embodies quality, luxury and a certain extravagance.

Over the years, MCM has made several collaborations with other fashion brands and designers.

One of MCM's best-known collaborations is the partnership with Puma, one of the leading companies in the sporting goods industry. In 2018, the two brands released a collection of sneakers and sportswear that combined the iconic MCM monogram design with Puma's classic, sporty style. The limited edition celebrated the 50th anniversary of Puma's famous suede sneaker and was a huge success.

Another notable collaboration is the partnership with A Bathing Ape (BAPE), a Japanese streetwear brand. In 2019, MCM and BAPE released a joint collection that combined the iconic BAPE camo pattern with the MCM monogram design. The collection, which included clothing, bags and accessories, was well received by both fashion critics and consumers and underscored MCM's commitment to innovation and creativity.

MCM has also worked with Phenomenon, a popular Japanese fashion brand. The collection, which was launched in 2015, combined MCM's traditional craftsmanship and high-quality materials with Phenomenon's contemporary, avant-garde style.

In addition, MCM has also worked with various artists in the past to create limited edition collections. A notable example is the collaboration with artist Stefan Strumbel, which incorporated Strumbel's pop art interpretations of traditional German iconography into MCM's design.

In 2018, MCM worked with music producer and DJ Steve Aoki to create a collection of accessories and clothing that combined Aoki's lively, energetic style with MCM's traditional design.
