An original, recoded. adidas Originals brings back the ADISTAR CONTROL 5, reworking its running performance DNA for today’s streetwear landscape.
First introduced in the late 1970s as a lightweight track spike built strictly for competition, the ADISTAR evolved over time. By the 2000s, the line had expanded to meet the growing demand for well-cushioned long-distance running shoes, designed for marathoners and ultra runners alike.
In 2008, the ADISTAR CONTROL 5 marked the next chapter. Originally engineered for road stability, it featured advanced FORMOTION technology and quickly became a Y2K performance icon. Now, the ADISTAR CONTROL 5 returns in an updated form for a new generation.

Based on its performance DNA yet firmly rooted in the present, the re-released ADISTAR CONTROL 5 pairs a durable rubber outsole with metallic overlays and a breathable mesh upper.
Moving beyond retro nostalgia, it brings functional technology back to the street: A FORMOTION heel unit enhances stability, while an ADIPRENE+ midsole and a midfoot torsion bar deliver a high level of cushioning.
The look is finished with the iconic open mesh, wrapped in Y2K-inspired silver metallic overlays.
