Vans is pleased to announce the second collaboration with multi-disciplinary designer and creative visionary Nicole McLaughlin. Inspired by her endless curiosity and experimental approach, the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin collection is a real adventure.

Known for her ability to transform single-use materials into innovative, multi-functional designs, Nicole brings her distinctive playful style to the limited edition collection.

The combination of functional versatility and creative aesthetics makes this collaboration an exceptional fusion of style and function.

“It’s key to have elements of functionality, mixed with a sense of conceptual art and style,” says Nicole McLaughlin. “Creating pieces that can be multi-purpose, but also fun has always been my goal. I was inspired by vintage hiking packs from the ‘70s and the aesthetic of outdoor gear from that era for the collection.”

At the heart of the collection is the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On RS, which is equipped with a backpack pocket at the toe of the shoe and adjustable nylon straps. The Slip-On RS was designed with durability and functionality in mind — the outer material is made from 40% recycled canvas and has been treated with PFC-free DWR coating for water resistance.

The Outsole profile also ensures optimum grip on a wide range of surfaces. The collection is complemented by the matching Vans x Nicole McLaughlin backpack, which can also be used as a chalk bag for climbing.

It is made from durable 40% recycled canvas. The socks, which are also available, are made from 80% organic cotton and feature a practical cargo pocket for additional storage space. :)

‍

Staged with a lot of humor, the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin collection campaign features a mini series of tiny replicas of real objects. In off-grid style, the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On RS is equipped with mini items from its pockets — perfect for an improvised camping setup.

The collection is also presented in a smaller version of Nicole's studio, which reflects her creative DIY approach in an unexpected way. The campaign was photographed and styled by Nicole McLaughlin herself.

The Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On RS will be available in two colorways: Tan and Grey, while the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Rucksock and the Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Rucksack will be available in oatmeal.
