Timberland unveils its second collaboration with A-COLD-WALL* founder Samuel Ross.
The collection is part of the Future73 project celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Original 6-Inch Boot. Samuel Ross reinterprets the silhouette, as well as the 3-Eye Lug boot and archival apparel, creating and reflecting a deliberate imperfection.
Building on the first collaboration, Ross’s reinterpretation of the premium 6-inch Zip Boot—crafted from high-quality regenerative leather and featuring a clean, minimalist design—provides added traction. The new version of the Timberland Heritage 3-Eye Lug in “Dark Sapphire” features a raised sole, durable ripstop upper, and a weatherproof GORE-TEX lining.
Samuel Ross: “This collection marks the return of craftsmanship, the return of family workshops, and the concept of apprenticeship—all of which must be preserved. For this reason, we decided to manufacture a large part of the collection in Italy and to bring these artisanal techniques—which cannot simply be replicated—with us.”
As part of his reinterpretation of the Timberland apparel archive, never-before-seen pieces—such as the Timberland x Samuel Ross Future73 Chore Coat—are being released, featuring unique textures inspired by Ross’s vision.
The celebration of imperfection and artisanal craftsmanship is evident throughout: from the patina and wear of the leather to the screen-printing process, in which garments like the Chore Coat were hand-painted with a variety of pigments, heat-treated, and reshaped to make each one truly one-of-a-kind.
“My earliest memories of Timberland go back about 20 years, when I was traveling through the Caribbean as a child—where my family is from—and I saw the brand’s influence on the culture. In places like Barbados and St. Vincent, there’s a deep respect for heritage and the sanctity of craftsmanship. The opportunity to collaborate on a project celebrating the 6-Inch Boot’s anniversary immediately excited me.”

The second drop of the Timberland × Samuel Ross Future73 collection will be available starting August 29, 2023, at select retailers such as AFEW-Store.
