CONSTRUCT:10061 was launched in 2018 by Timberland and CONCEPTKICKS. The two brands worked together to research and design shoe innovations and bring together designers across industries who question conventions.
The annual CONSTRUCT:10061 maker events aim to reveal the guarded innovations in the shoe sector by illuminating the creation and development process of products and leading to tailor-made individual creations.
The location of the last Maker event was The Shed - Timberland's unique prototyping laboratory in New Hampshire, which pushes the limits of shoe design.
The space was set up by the Timberland Advanced Concepts & Energy team to improve Timberland's innovation capabilities — including setting up new 3D digital prototyping facilities on site, cutting leather patterns, quadruple stitching, embossing, and more.
The Timberland construct:10061 collection includes five limited edition models created at the last Maker Workshop and sold exclusively during Earth Month to highlight the eco-innovations and advanced design in every shoe.
The high-quality Timberland materials ensure long-lasting durability and quality, as do responsible materials such as REBOTL lining and bio-based Dyneema textiles and outer materials.
“Our workshop with Timberland has always focused on pushing the boot-making process through the cross-pollination of industries. This mixing of perspectives creates an environment where unexpected innovation and product solutions can flourish,” shared Daniel Bailey, founder and creative director of CONCEPTKICKS.
Highlighting the works of a diverse group of designers, makers and innovators, the release features original designs by Téla D’Amore, Jaimus Tailor, Jesus Diaz, Daniel Bailey, and John Chen.
All bring a unique perspective to each silhouette and highlight the work from previous construct:10061 workshops with an even more daring approach.
Fans of the Timberland brand may recognize new versions of their favorite models, such as the C61 Stacked 10-inch Boot, which was designed by Téla D'Amore and picks up the original Super Boot with an extended shaft and an extra stacked EVA sole.
The addition of braided leather laces adds a contemporary touch to this functional silhouette.
The C61 Gen Extender Boot, designed by CONCEPTKICKS' own designer John Chen, offers an adaptable silhouette thanks to its expandable, layered outer material.
The foldable nature of the boot is a small reference to Isamu Noguchi's iconic paper lamp structures.
It offers wearers a variety of options to style the shoe from mid-height to high, from structured to casual.
Jaimus Tailor, founder of upcycling brand Greater Goods, has designed the C61 Woven Clog, which combines an outdoor attitude with handmade details.
The outer material consists of woven fabric, which is made from individual strips of nylon fabric, and a neoprene shaft ensures the clog fits properly.
The Euro Hiker-inspired C61 Neo Veil Hiker, designed by Daniel Bailey and Jesus Diaz, transforms the iconic Euro Hiker with an external Lycra coating.
The construction of the boot creates a unique visual highlight and blurs the line between shaft and sole. This is particularly clearly emphasized by the transition from the square outsole to the rounded toe.
Finally, the C61 Dy-Tec World Hiker, designed by Daniel Bailey and John Chen, is a technical material study on an iconic silhouette.
The shoe consists of a bio-based Dyneema upper with a spacer mesh embedded in it. A rubber material was used in the toe area for climbing, which gives the chunky Vibram Bristol outsole extra structure and volume.
The CONSTRUCT:10061 collection will be launched on April 24, 2024 and will be sold exclusively through HYPEBEAST. Keep an eye on our Sneaker Releases.
