PUMA steps onto the winners' podium with a new version of the OG Speedcat. Originally, the Puma Speedcat developed for the fastest sport in the world and has achieved a legendary reputation in Formula One.
PUMA is now relaunching the shoe that has already graced the feet of Grand Prix champions: The Speedcat comes as a low-top model with a luxurious suede finish and in black and red, which are reminiscent of legendary F1 racing teams.
As an homage to the racing uniforms of the early 2000s, this new edition features an embroidered Puma Cat logo on the toe of the shoe, while gold logo embossing appears on the tongue and over the form strip.
The lifestyle version of the PUMA Speedcat, created in 1999, is based on fireproof Sparco Racing shoes that were worn by Grand Prix drivers in the 80s and 90s.
The Speedcat's sleek, racing-inspired lines and aerodynamic look enabled the silhouette to make an impression in the world of fashion and sneaker culture even off the racetrack.
The flat shape of the Speedcat became a favorite in fashion capitals around the world, from London to Berlin to Korea, and even resulted to more lifestyle variants such as Puma Drift Cat and Race Cat.
To this day, the original Speedcat is the best-selling PUMA sneaker of all time.
PUMA's launch partner for the Speedcat 2024 is NAKED Copenhagen, the Copenhagen-based retailer known for its global female voice.
PUMA and NAKED Copenhagen are jointly presenting the Speedcat in a campaign designed by women. It shows what it means to be a pioneer — both on the racetrack and in everyday life. The campaign honors the efforts and skills needed to be a female leader.
The muse and face of the campaign is the stylist and designer Sierra Rena, which addresses courageous self-expression, an attitude based on the pioneering women before her, and the determination to positively inspire future generations.
The campaign honors the Speedcat's heritage and presents the silhouette as a symbol of empowerment and innovation.
The PUMA Speedcat will be available as part of an exclusive pre-release event on June 19 at the NAKED Copenhagen Paris store in Le Marais, as well as online and at the Naked Copenhagen stores in Copenhagen and Aarhus.
From June 29, the PUMA Speedcat will be available at other sneaker shops worldwide. Keep an eye on our Sneaker Releases.
Further color variants of the PUMA Speedcat are to be released later this year.
