Running history meets modern performance in the new Nike International Running Pack. The collection fuses Nike’s legendary running DNA with contemporary innovation — designed for athletes who draw inspiration from the past to shape the future of the sport.
Rooted in Nike Archive DNA, iconic elements from running history are reimagined.
From the uncompromising speed of the Vaporfly 4 and Alphafly 3 to the versatility of the Pegasus 41 and Vomero 18 — each silhouette channels the rebellious spirit of speed and nonconformity.
‍

‍
The collection makes its debut just ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, underscoring Nike’s decades-long connection to Japan and its running community.
‍

‍
Inspired by local run crews and their love of vintage running footwear, the four models reference original colorways of classic Nike shoes, reviving the brand’s earliest performance-running silhouettes.
‍

‍
“Our goal in designing the Nike International Running Pack was to represent the deep relationship between Nike and Japan, dating back to our first years as a brand,” says Katsunobu Asayama, lead designer of the footwear collection.
“We wanted to meet Japanese runners’ appreciation for vintage styles by looking into our archive and applying some of our classic designs to modern Nike Running silhouettes — bringing that vintage look the community loves to our latest footwear innovations.”

‍

‍
The Vaporfly 4 — the latest evolution of Nike’s first Super Shoe — embodies the spirit of the iconic Pre Montreal Racing Spike, an innovative design shaped by Steve Prefontaine ahead of the 1976 Olympic Games.
‍

‍
The Alphafly 3, whose first generation already drew on insights from the original Vaporfly, builds on the Sting — released two years after the Pre Montreal and remembered as Nike’s first racing flat crafted from suede and nylon.
‍

‍
The Pegasus 41 draws on the design DNA of the iconic Waffle Racer, whose silhouette became the blueprint for many Nike racing shoes,
‍

‍
while the Vomero 18 takes after the original LD-1000 long-distance trainer.
‍

‍
All four styles pay tribute to their 1970s inspirations with modern interpretations of the original designs.
On the Vaporfly, Alphafly and Pegasus, the Swoosh and other details are applied directly to the upper through an innovative printing process.
‍

‍
‍
The collection is rounded out by an apparel line that reimagines essential Nike Running pieces — inspired by modern Japanese aesthetics and Nike’s close connection to the local running community.
The Nike International Running Pack will launch exclusively at UNION RUNNING DEPT. BY NIKE in Tokyo on August 30, followed by a Japan-wide release on September 5, before becoming available globally at select retailers on September 10.
