With the anatomically shaped footbed at its core, every Birkenstock shoe is grounded in biomechanics. The footbed’s construction enhances natural movement while supporting the foot’s alignment and balance. This collection blends traditional craftsmanship with innovation, utilizing high-quality materials built to withstand everyday wear and beyond.

Designed for function, the footbed promotes natural walking—even in closed shoes. Perfect for those who seek more with every step, whether in the city, while traveling, or in daily life, the Birkenstock shoe collection is crafted for ultimate lightness and durability.

The Birkenstock family's shoemaking tradition can be traced back to 1774. In 1897, Konrad Birkenstock revolutionized shoemaking with the invention of an anatomically shaped wooden shoe rack and the development of orthopedic insoles for shoes that were adapted to the wearer's individual needs.

While most people at Birkenstock think of iconic sandal models such as Arizona, Madrid or Boston, sandals played no role at all for the family at the turn of the century. At that time, the shoemaker's shop focused on the vision of healthy feet, which should be realized in closed shoes.

Carl Birkenstock further developed the ideas for foot health and worked from the 1930s on the so-called ideal shoe — a closed shoe with a highly individual fit to promote optimal foot position and natural walking.

It was Karl Birkenstock who developed the first Birkenstock sandal with an integrated footbed in 1963 and thus the first mass-produced Birkenstock product to enable all people to walk naturally. With the one-strap, which was later renamed Madrid, Karl Birkenstock developed a completely new sandal and moved away from closed shoes for the first time in the family's history.

Today, the family-run shoemaker has become a global innovation leader in the shoe industry. Each pair of Birkenstock shoes is optimised for maximum functionality and ultimate foot support. The legendary footbed is still the basis for product innovation today.

The Birkenstock shoe collection is based on the unique function of the footbed. The closed shoe models combine craftsmanship and innovation and offer the unrivalled Birkenstock footbed experience. The collection combines biomechanics, craftsmanship and premium materials to create shoes that meet the highest standards of quality and function. The harmonious color palette in Colourway Taupe embodies timeless aesthetics.

The Highwood Low Lace and Utti models are based on the Deep Blue Footbed, which reduces foot load, promotes stability and supports natural walking. The Birkenstock Bend Decon and Pasadena use the original cork-latex footbed, which optimally stabilizes the foot.

The Deep Blue Footbed features anatomically shaped cross arch support for stability, inner and outer longitudinal arch supports for balance, and a deep heel cup for support and balance.

Highwood Low Lace combines elegance and functionality. The simple, minimalistic design with high-quality suede complements the distinctive Birkenstock aesthetic with practical details.

The TPR outsole, inspired by safety shoes, provides optimal grip, while a sturdy open lacing with a single set of metal eyelets completes the design.
