Action Bronson, who we saw in the New Balance Made in USA “Runners aren't normal” campaign a few months ago, is presenting his own collab on the 990v6 next week.
‍
‍
He describes the design himself as follows:
“With this shoe, I wanted to capture everything that makes us up as beings. The water, the waves, the energy. The energy in the copper. The energy that transfuses electricity into light. Ooze.
‍
‍
You can literally break down each color. The bottom — the ocean — water, which makes us up. Then it's the earth, the terra. Then you have another layer of the copper. That’s the electricity that infuses everything that lies underneath the layers.
‍
‍
Then you have the electricity in the sky — that neon green, the lightning. Then you have the grey — original New Balance structure and soul as something planetary, the moon.
‍
‍
We have all that synergy on a foot. It’s our vehicle. Some vehicles are sporty, but don't have the comfort. Some have the comfort, but they look like a grandfather or grandmother car. This shoe combines the best of both worlds with sportiness and comfort in a midsize sedan.
It’s highly inspired by pistachios, baklava, my life, the layers. There’s lots of meanings. There’s not just one meaning. The English language allows for dual, triple, quad meanings for one specific thing.
‍
‍
It's poetry, it's analogy, it's a simile. It’s art. It’s a painting. I treat each thing like a singular piece, and this for me… It's hard to explain how you do something when you're not consciously doing it. It’s like when I hit 20 three pointers in a row, and I shrug my shoulders.
I don’t know what the hell is going on. No one knows.”

‍
Action Bronson began his career as a professional chef before turning to rap due to an injury. He released his first mixtape “Bon Appétit... Bitch!” in 2011. His breakthrough came with the mixtape “Dr. Lecter” and the subsequent “Blue Chips” project with producer Party Supplies. Both projects were praised for their raw, nostalgic beats and action Bronson's humorous, often absurd lyrics.
‍
‍
Over the course of his career, Action Bronson has worked with a wide range of producers, including Alchemist, Statik Selektah, and Harry Fraud. He has also worked with other well-known rappers such as Ghostface Killah, Chance the Rapper, and Joey Bada$$.
‍
‍
Apart from music, Action Bronson has also had success on television, especially with the VICE program “Fuck, That's Delicious”, in which he combines his two passions of cooking and traveling. He also hosted other VICE productions, such as “The Untitled Action Bronson Show” and “Traveling the Stars: Action Bronson and Friends Watch Ancient Aliens.”
