At the start of the year, New Balance taps into clear Eighties vibes with a new model. The low-profile sneaker draws on its retro DNA and brings it into the present with a deliberately eccentric attitude.

Unexpected textures and bold visual accents set the Gator Run apart from classic sportswear codes.

The silhouette’s standout feature is its iconic serrated outsole, paired with a glossy patent leather upper and debossed crocodile print. The result is a hybrid aesthetic that stands out without feeling arbitrary.

“Among all the smoothly polished silhouettes, the Gator Run stands out immediately — bold, independent, unmistakable.”
Its shape nods to New Balance’s DNA, yet still feels like a fresh cut.

“Sometimes the strongest designs come from looking back and re-reading the past,” says Taylor Canby, Director of Design.

The campaign was created in collaboration with photographer and director Tom Emerson and Red Buoy Studio. Across the visuals, alligators appear again and again, mirroring the Gator Run’s eccentric attitude right in the frame.
Through Emerson’s lens, New Balance is given a fashion perspective that feels elegant and playful at the same time.
