Not much is known yet, but it looks like another film about Michael Jordan is in the works. The English summary is: “The wild true story of how an upstart shoe company named Nike landed the most influential endorsement in sports history: Michael Jordan.”

The topic therefore still offers a lot of potential even after “The Last Dance” and “Unbanned: The Legend of AJ1” (both trailers linked below). The production with the working title “Air Jordan” is still in pitch status, but after recording in the Black List 2021 Implementation is highly likely.

The Black List is a list in which over 375 filmmakers can suggest their 10 favorite screenplays that were written in the respective year. In order to be included in the list, screenplays must be mentioned at least 7 times. The screenwriter is Alex Convery (United Talent Agency) and will produce Mandalay Pictures and Skydance Media.

‍

UPDATE (February 9, 2023): This film is the Feature film “AIR” about the beginnings of Nike and Michael Jordan which will be released in cinemas on April 5, 2023.

Not uninteresting for the sneaker community is another script that has also made it onto the 2021 blacklist: In The College Dropout by Thomas Aguilar and Michael Ballin, it's about the still young Kanye West, his 2004 debut album (with the same title) and the accompanying reinvention of hip-hop.

The production company has not yet been confirmed, but the whole thing is to be financed by Columbia Pictures. The realization is therefore very likely.
