For the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Merrell 1TRL explored the next generation of the well-known Hydro Moc series.

The design is inspired by the dream paths we follow and that arise in and through water, the predominant force in nature.

‍

‍

Since the first version, the Hydro Moc has been characterized by a design that imitates the flow of water around and across rocks.

‍

‍

Where you find erosion, you find desire paths, a natural phenomenon which demonstrates the principle that you cannot control nature,

‍

‍

only work to manage it. Its flow and progression are inevitable.

‍

‍

To nurture the evolution of the Next Gen product, the Merrell 1TRL design team utilised and partnered with innovative AI programs to expand on this natural process,

‍

‍

using it as a tool for the jumping off point which inspired the futuristic design language prevalent in the subsequent silhouettes.

‍

‍

Through the relationship between water and rock, man and machine, nature and technology, a seamless, modern design was once again realized.
