More than two decades ago, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto developed their own vision of high-quality sportswear.
‍
‍
With the presentation of the first chapter of the Y-3 spring/summer 2024 collection, the “Three Stripes” and the avant-garde designer are focusing on the concept of Contra-Natural - a world in which the duality between the organic and the synthetic creates unexpected beauty.
‍
‍
For the first chapter of the season, Y-3 offers a progressive range of garments featuring daring cuts, sophisticated fits and expressive silhouettes.
‍
‍
These include some pieces with digitally distorted floral graphics, which were assembled from scans of real flowers.
‍
‍
The brand's signature Pantone colors are all represented — Y-3 Black, Solid Gray and White — and are complemented by Clay Brown, Mesa, Shadow Red and Mint.
‍
‍
As an expression of the tension that is at the heart of the seasonal concept, the quartet of new colors is inspired by the process of oxidation, in which the nature of the metal takes over and transforms rusty burgundy into a sour mint.
‍
‍
The accessories, which continue the bold theme of the first chapter of the season, include a selection of soft leather bags, purses and card holders that feature the same distorted floral graphics.
‍
‍
From clothing to shoes, Chapter 1 focuses on expanding the adidas Originals icons, which are reinterpreted through the perspective of Yohji Yamamoto.
‍
‍
The new silhouettes include the Y-3 STAN SMITH and Y-3 COUNTRY — made from premium foldable leather with piping details — as well as the Y-3 GSG9 LOW.
‍
‍
The return of the brand's most progressive silhouette to date — the Y-3 GENDO — is accompanied by the Y-3 KYASU in low and high-top designs and the introduction of the Y-3 KYASU SLIP-ON, which combines the silhouette's minimal, brick-like outsole with a sewn-on Primeknit upper.
‍
‍
The launch of Chapter 1 for spring/summer 2024 is accompanied by an impressive campaign that captures strength and community through the eyes of London's Bugeisha Club — an international collective of women and non-binary people of mixed Asian descent who boldly combine unbridled creative energy with sporting prowess.

Shot by Erika Kamano, with moving images directed by Francis Plummer and styling by Robbie Spencer. A story of serenity, balance and restraint through the synergy of body, mind, spirit and community.
‍
‍
‍
The coming together of highly creative and determined individuals who focus on the tension between fluid movement and strict discipline features four of the Bugeisha Club's leading figures — Mana Kimura-Anderson, Becky Tun Pe, April Gunawardena and Lara Swift — in the Y-3 Spring/Summer 2024 Chapter 1 collection.

An unmistakable vision of uncompromising sporting elegance: Welcome to the first chapter of Contra-Natural.
