adidas and Manchester United are today presenting the Man Utd x Originals collection, which revisits popular pieces from the adidas archive and incorporates them into today's soccer culture.

The nostalgic collection is intended to capture the spirit of the “away days” and the unconditional dedication of the fans who came to support the team during the remarkable seasons 1988 to 1990.

As a nod to the now iconic design DNA of the time, the nine-piece collection features a new take on the famous legacy pieces as well as a range of memorabilia, including a hoodie, T-shirts and a bank jacket.

The hero of the collection is the Man Utd x Originals Third jersey, which — rich in detail — is inspired by the same legendary shirt that was worn back then. This includes jacquard material with “MUFC” lettering and a carefully crafted ribbed collar with red and black details on the edges.

Based on the original, the Adidas trefoil, the club crest and other sponsor icons of the time are applied to the fabric of the shirt with a soft, textured material.

Matching the jersey, there are matching shorts, which are decorated with “MUFC” lettering on the side and are made from a woven fabric that restores both the look and feel of jerseys from decades ago.

An animated version of Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez wearing the new Man Utd x Originals third shirt will appear on the cover of the United We Stand fanzine this month.
The collection also includes the Man Utd x Bench Jacket, which is inspired by the jacket the manager wore on the sidelines as a trainer but was redesigned as a modern shell jacket.

This and a reinterpreted version of the hoodie that the players wore off the pitch come in bright red, white and black as an homage to the original parts. The Man Utd x Originals collection is out this month.
