VEJA is starting a new chapter with THE AEGEAN PROJECT. The aim is to produce sneakers locally for the EU market.
Specifically, this means that the French brand is producing sneakers in Portugal for Europe for the first time. VEJA shoes have been produced in Brazil since 2005 and are now sold worldwide.
In all these years, VEJA has built up a sustainable supply chain, for example with organic cotton from Brazil and Peru or with natural rubber from the Amazon rainforest. According to VEJA, it is time to develop a second, equally responsible supply chain.
VEJA secretly began producing three different V-90 color styles in Europe in 2023 and has already produced over 80,000 pairs in Portugal without telling anyone.
The V-90 is made of leather, tanned in Portugal with less dyes than before. The suede inserts are from the EU — tanned in Italy with reasonable water consumption, free from dangerous or prohibited chemicals.
VEJA sneakers are available at 43 and a half, AFEW Store, Allike, Asphaltgold, The stable, Fortytree, HHV, Scoop 86, Sneaker Twins and SUPPA.
