Vault by Vans – Nigel Cabourn
This fall, Vault by Vans and Nigel Cabourn are celebrating the launch of their first collaborative collection.
"I’m really excited to present my first collaboration with Vault by Vans," said Nigel Cabourn. "This exciting unisex collection is full of fun designs inspired by my recent trips to California and Japan.
By combining surf style with classic ‘Cabourn Military,’ a bold color palette, and graphic influences, we’ve created a great, laid-back, après-surf-inspired collection.”
The British fashion designer, known for his unisex outerwear and vintage style, has already made a name for himself in the fashion industry. By eschewing gender-specific constraints in his fashion, Nigel captures the spirit of the times.
For the Vault by Vans collection, Nigel and his collaborator Emilie Casiez, who is responsible for the women’s collection, drew inspiration from the military world of the 1940s through the 1970s and the corresponding materials, colors, and designs.
The collection features rugged textiles and custom-made jacquard. Hand-drawn details and decorative stitching highlight Nigel’s DIY touch.
The highlights of the collection are the OG Authentic LX,
the OG Classic Slip-On LX in jacquard,
the OG Style 23 LX with an eye-catching navy blue sole featuring a red stripe,
the OG Style 24 in a luxurious herringbone tweed look, and last but not least—
the all-army-green OG Slip-On LX.
Nigel has taken the most iconic Vans silhouettes and reinterpreted them in his own style.
The various colorways and patterns featured in this collection are particularly unique: traditional military apparel is given a contemporary twist through camouflage patterns with orange accents in classic olive, khaki, and army green.
The high-quality prints, decorative stitching, and frayed details give the pieces a unique DIY flair. The OG Authentic LX in natural/navy stands out with its upper made of sturdy, natural canvas and a faded stamped print, reminiscent of classic military bags.
The 6-piece shoe collection is complemented by a matching unisex apparel line. The utility jacket is enlivened by a kaleidoscopic print inspired by hand-knotted rugs, tapestries, and runners.
The graphic crew-neck fleece sweater features one of Nigel’s own designs screen-printed on the front.
The loden green cap with cream-colored decorative stitching and doodles rounds out the Nigel Cabourn collection.
The Vault by Vans x Nigel Cabourn collection will be available starting October 9, 2021, at Asphaltgold and Allike.
