Vans introduces Off The Wall, a global campaign centered on the Authentic and the people who made the silhouette what it is today.
More than just a slogan, Off The Wall represents an attitude shaped by individuality and creative defiance of convention.

Off The Wall highlights the role Vans has played in culture and the creative scene for decades.
The campaign reflects what the brand stands for, how it brings people together and how it continues to evolve.

All artists featured in the campaign embody that same attitude. Completely individual, yet driven by the same instinct to bring their own voice into culture.
Builders and breakers. Originals and outsiders who do not wait for permission to belong, because they are already shaping culture themselves.

The campaign is a tribute to all those who follow their own path and to the shoe that has accompanied them for decades.

The Authentic is the model where it all began.
First released in 1966 as the Style 44 “Deck Shoe”, the Authentic quickly evolved into a functional all-rounder with its durable canvas upper and grippy rubber outsole.

In the early 1970s, skateboarders in Southern California adopted the shoe, drawn to its durability and direct board feel. Shortly after its launch, Vans also introduced the now iconic Waffle sole.

The Waffle pattern was created after Paul Van Doren noticed that early outsoles with a simple diamond tread tended to crack around the ball of the foot.
The new structure solved the problem and went on to become one of the brand’s most recognizable design features. A cultural turning point came in the mid 1970s when the legendary Zephyr Skate Team, better known as the Z Boys, wore the model at the Del Mar Nationals.

The combination of durability and precise board feel quickly made the shoe a favorite within the skate scene and laid the foundation for Vans’ first official skate shoe, the Style 95, known today as the Era.
Since then, the Authentic has remained closely tied to youth culture, from skateparks to punk and music scenes and eventually to global streetwear culture.

Over the decades, the skate shoe evolved into a global icon. Worn by those who stand out: artists and originals, creators and innovators, outsiders and nonconformists.
A shoe for those who never wait for permission to belong.

For six decades, the Authentic has been worn by those who live Off The Wall.
It stands for individuality, creativity and the conscious choice not to fade into the background. At the same time, it has always belonged to the next generation.

2026 will be a special year for Vans and the Authentic, as both celebrate six decades of cultural impact shaped by the people who wear it.

For the campaign, Vans brought together a diverse collective of skateboarders, artists and cultural innovators, captured through the lens of photographer Rosie Marks.
Among them are SZA, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Franz Lyons of Turnstile, Travis Barker and skateboarders Lizzie Armanto and T Funk.

Each of them brings their own perspective and creative energy, united by the same attitude to shape culture in their own way.
Because Off The Wall isn’t something you wear.
It’s how you live.
The Vans Off The Wall Authentic Pack releases on March 12. Additional colorways will follow on April 2 and will also be available at selected retailers. For more information, keep an eye on the Sneaker Releases.
