The Reebok Advanced Concepts team began in 2022 with a multi-year design exploration to develop a performance basketball shoe model to relaunch the brand. The result is “Engine A”.
‍
The “Engine A” is Reebok's first basketball release since the early 2010s and reintroduces the legendary Energy Return System (ERS) in a modern silhouette that will be available worldwide in spring 2025.
‍
‍
Fans will be able to see the “Engine A” on the courts and at players' feet in autumn/winter 2024 before it is officially launched in spring 2025.
‍
‍
The “Engine A” is a reinterpretation of Reebok's classic ERS cushioning system in a modern design inspired by the Mobius line from the 90s, and offers dynamic athletes a high-performance sneaker.

‍
Superstar basketball player and brand partner Angel Reese has the Engine A presented on the court on August 30.
‍
Angel Reese is an American college basketball player who currently plays for LSU Tigers, the Louisiana State University women's basketball team. She originally began her college career at the University of Maryland but then decided to move to LSU.
Reese plays in the Power Forward position and is known for her athleticism, strength and versatility on the court. She drew particular attention during the 2020 season when she led LSU Tigers to the NCAA championship and was named the “Most Outstanding Player” of the Final Four.
With her skill and charisma, Angel Reese has the potential to make an even bigger start in the basketball world — hopefully soon in the WNBA too.

‍Reebok Engine A Features:
‍
UPPER
The 'exoskeleton' design enables bold color blocking and revives the '90s Mobius aesthetic. The lightweight synthetic materials provide support and a breathable fit, with a molded heel counter and internal counter for added lockdown.
MIDSOLE
The Energy Return System uses nitrogen-infused foam to absorb energy and propel the foot. SUPERFLOAT foam in the heel and forefoot adds comfort and bounce, while a high-density foam rim and internal shank offer stability. A TPU midsole accent and 'sway bar' design reference classic '80s ERS models.
OUTSOLE
The shoe’s high-abrasion rubber outsole features a multi-directional, modified herringbone traction pattern positioned to provide optimal grip for basketball-specific movements, while the underfoot cutouts give a look into the SUPEFLOAT core within.
