The Slipstream Mid was a basketball shoe introduced in 1987 as the successor to the SKY LX. It became an iconic sneaker silhouette that was popular among basketball players on the court due to its stability and cushioning.

Off the court, it made its way onto the streets and gained a large following among sneaker enthusiasts thanks to its unique design.

Due to its growing popularity, lifestyle models such as THE BEAST and SLIPSTREAM SNAKE were also released in 1988 (just one year after the basketball shoe’s debut).

With these two models, PUMA pioneered the lifestyle segment, incorporating materials such as snakeskin, leather, and faux fur.

These models gained fame in Japan, leading to “Made in Japan” versions in the early 2000s.

The Slipstream Lo version was also released as a lifestyle model, which further increased the shoe’s popularity and expanded the wide range of offerings.

In 2022, the Slipstream Lo returns, drawing inspiration from its earlier connection to Japan with the Slipstream Lo Sashiko.

The Slipstream Lo Sashiko features a sophisticated design thanks to the traditional Japanese decorative stitching technique: The shoe has a blue upper made of canvas and suede with white Sashiko stitching along the edge of the collar.

To add a personal touch to the shoe, a bag of fabric scraps is included so customers can sew them onto the upper themselves.

The Puma Slipstream Lo Sashiko is now available at Asphaltgold.
