Driven by a long-standing culture of innovation, Nike and designer Feng Chen Wang present their first collaboration.
The collaboration breaks with all conventions in clothing construction in order to reinterpret sportswear as a highly functional blend of different cultural and design elements.
The Nike x Feng Chen Wang collection underscores the brand and designer's commitment to creating the future for sport and athletes through experimentation.
The collection features Feng's signature over-engineered designs and craftsmanship. Innovative methods are used to create functional clothing with elements of traditional sportswear that is across genders and ages and at the same time meets different needs.
The core of the collection, the Transform Jacket, is inspired by Feng's mantra “to own less is to own more.”
The garment has removable components that allow the jacket to be modified in more than 30 ways so that it can be worn in all areas of daily life. The unique design is intended to inspire people to live an environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyle as it offers many styling options.
Other pieces in the collection include textured knitwear. The crop top, bra, and tights are all allusions to Feng's importance of wellness in everyday life.
“As a designer, I often draw my creative inspiration from my personal experiences, cultural education, and the influences of people around me,” says Feng.
“Like Nike, I want to create more inclusive and sustainable products. The Transform Jacket is a perfect example of how products can be designed with inclusion and versatility in mind, making them suitable for everyone. Regardless of gender, age, body type or sport, anyone can disassemble and rearrange the individual parts of a piece of clothing until the perfect combination is found.”
The Nike x Feng Chen Wang collection will be available at select retailers from September 28.
