For some time now, Nike has been increasingly committed to sustainability. The brand’s “Move To Zero” campaign is at the forefront of these efforts. With this campaign, Nike has set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions and waste to a minimum in order to secure the future of sports.
The “Move To Zero” collection features iconic Nike silhouettes, which the company is reimagining using eco-conscious materials and production processes. Now, a classic from Nike is joining the lineup. The Air Max 90 is getting a sustainable makeover and is being released—exclusively for women—in the “Scrap” colorway.
The main highlight of the “Scrap” is the upper’s design, which features a playful patchwork look. Colorful fabric patches made from various materials create a vibrant patchwork effect and give the sneaker its eye-catching appearance. The upper’s color palette ranges from earthy browns and grays to an elegant navy blue and a vibrant red.
What makes it special: The shoe is made from 20 percent recycled materials. The patches are all crafted from surplus fabric that would otherwise have ended up in the trash.
If you take a closer look at the Air Max 90 “Scrap,” you’ll notice not only the asymmetrical color-blocking and the playful mix of colors on the upper, but also the wide variety of materials used in its construction. In addition to the waffle-patterned Swoosh on the side panel and the open edge around the collar, the interchangeable patch on the heel really stands out.
The outsole, with its color mix of mint green, natural rubber, and red, provides another design highlight for the silhouette. The white midsole, along with the white laces and the logo patch on the tongue, brings a touch of calm to the “Scrap’s” vibrant color spectacle.
