Vans is proud to take a more sustainable approach to its Classics models with the new Eco Theory collection. The Eco Theory collection is the first step toward a more sustainable product and uses responsibly sourced materials in timeless colorways.
With Eco Theory, Vans has set out to create more thoughtfully designed versions of the Classics and to further evolve the brand’s history by combining environmental consciousness with the iconic aesthetic that Vans fans have come to expect from the brand.
The Eco Theory Old Skool Decon features a canvas upper made from 100% organically grown cotton.
The outsole is made of natural rubber. Unlike the rubber typically used, which is derived from petroleum, this rubber comes from tree farms that operate using ethical and sustainable practices. This helps minimize the damage to our ecosystem.
The outsole was designed to maintain the grip and durability for which Vans is known.
The laces are made from natural jute fibers, the footbed is made of natural cork—and the whole shoe is held together with water-based adhesives.
The Old Skool Decon uses water-based inks and dyes in four neutral colors, including white/natural, winter sky/natural, cornstalk/natural canvas in checkerboard, and peachy keen/natural canvas in checkerboard.
