This year’s Anaheim Factory collection pays homage to Vans’ Southern California roots with reimagined sidewall prints from the ’70s and ’80s.
The Anaheim Factory styles combine the traditional Vans look with enhanced comfort and prints from the archives of past decades.
The models are modeled after the first Vans prototypes and named after the production facility in Anaheim, California.
Details from Vans’ early days include, for example, the “Friction Scenes” on the side of the shoe’s sole, the first version of which dates back to 1977 and was expanded in the ’80s to include colorful, whimsical designs.
The collection includes the Authentic 44 DX, Vans’ first model, created when brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren, together with their partners Gordon Lee and Serge Delia, began producing shoes in March 1966 at the Van Doren Rubber Factory in Anaheim, California.
The sidewall of the Authentic pays homage to Vans’ retro graphics from the past. Tri-color vintage illustrations depict skiing and surfing scenes on the white and yellow colorways.
The Vans Anaheim Factory Collection will be available at Orange Jungle.
