On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the legendary GEL-KAYANO model, ASICS with the Berlin brand ltd worked together.

Benjamin A. Huseby and Serhat Işık from GmbH have looked at their favorite elements of all previous GEL-KAYANO sneaker generations and blended them together in a process they call Frankenstein's monster, resulting in the GEL-KAYANO Legacy shoe design.

To break with the past, GmbH chose colors and graphic blocking that had not previously been combined in GEL-KAYANO shoes to create an untypical yet recognizable GEL-KAYANO edition. The sneakers are available in two colors: White/Black and Cilantro/Wood Crepe.

The successful running shoe series was named after Toshikazu Kayano. He began designing shoes at ASICS in the late 1980s before creating the GEL-KAYANO series in 1993. Since its inception, this model has been steeped in technologies that reflect the armor-like properties of a stag beetle.

‍

Even after 30 years, this philosophy is still an important feature of the stability running shoe. Kayano designed the first 13 models in this shoe line before handing over the task in 2008.

The ASICS x GmbH Gel-Kayano Legacy will be released on September 21 at AFEW Store, Asphaltgold and VOOstore.
