As Y-3 celebrates its 20th anniversary, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto are unveiling the brand’s third collection. Building on the theme “20 Years: Re-Coded,” Chapter 3 is a promising ode to one of the brand’s most iconic colors: orange.

Y-3’s latest project explores the theme of collective memory. adidas and Yohji Yamamoto delved into their shared history to design the “Memories of Orange” collection.

Orange has been the main color of the brand’s logo for many years. For Fall/Winter 2022 Chapter 3, Y-3 combines this color with black and several other neutral tones. The collection also draws inspiration from soccer.

The pieces in the collection are characterized by contrasting logos and a fluorescent orange color palette. The collection also features various versions of soccer crests and redesigned team sponsor graphics.

The footwear lineup centers on the Y-3 HOKORI III, the Y-3 ULTRABOOST 22, and a bright orange version of the Y-3 QASA.

The brand also presents the Y-3 GAZELLE, an expressive take on a silhouette from the past.

The launch of Chapter 3 is accompanied by an energetic campaign produced by Thue Nørgaard under the creative direction of Jamie Reid and styled by Robbie Spencer.

The striking photos continue the aesthetic language established in Chapters 1 and 2, focusing on control and determination.

The models in the campaign embody this vision through athletic movements and dynamic choreography. The warm lighting is conveyed through a digital background composed of two different shades of orange and a nostalgic pastel blue.

This evokes a sunrise in the morning. The result is lighting effects that simultaneously allude to the beginnings of Y-3 and pay homage to the brand’s original color.
Y-3 Fall/Winter 2022 Chapter 3 will be available soon. Updates to follow. Be sure to keep an eye on our sneaker release calendar, too.
