The great folks at the 43einhalb Sneaker Store in Fulda are presenting their first collaboration with adidas this month: the adidas ZX 10k "Joint Path."
To celebrate 43einhalb’s 10th anniversary this year, we can look forward to one of the most versatile ZX models from adidas.
When a sneaker store is given the opportunity to design its own shoe, it’s the highest honor in the sneaker game. It’s a chance to show that you’re not just good at selling shoes, but that you also have a knack for storytelling, conceptualizing, and bringing those ideas to life. And they’ve definitely succeeded here.
43einhalb has created a stunning companion for the “Joint Path” collaboration. Fittingly, 43einhalb found inspiration for the individual colors on the ZX 10k “Joint Path” in topographic maps and the landscapes they’ve traversed over the past few years.
The high proportion of dark gray tones thus references urban spaces—such as the second home of the 43einhalb team. In addition to their HQ in Fulda, they also have a store in Frankfurt, aka “Mainhattan.”
The sandy tones and light grays represent beaches, rocks, and mountains. The blue stands for rivers and the sea. The green represents forests and fields.
A long journey is also accompanied by sunrise and sunset, which is what the bright signal orange refers to. The green strips along the highway were also incorporated and can be seen in the three stripes.
The release was crafted with great attention to detail, including a focus on the tactile experience. A successful mix of materials—smooth leather, suede, and fine and coarse mesh—gives the “Joint Path” a pleasant, tangible depth.
On the tongue, the insole, and—as it appears—optionally on one of the lace tags (there are three color versions), we find the “Joint Path Club Signet,” which, according to 43einhalb, was created in classic fashion à la “Great idea—quick, pass me a napkin!” Fittingly, the logo combines the Fulda lily and the adidas trefoil.
