Kerwin Frost has just launched his comically oversized “Superstuffed” Superstar sneakers, and now he’s already unveiling his first collaborative collection with adidas Originals.
The enigmatic cultural polymath, who consistently sparks conversation with his inimitable style, breathes new life into the brand with youthful energy and vocabulary from Kerwin’s childhood, presenting a range of apparel and footwear.
“Designing this collection with adidas has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. Designing the product and planning the launch was a wild ride—it’s so crazy that this collection is finally here,” says Frost.
“I hope people are excited when they see the pieces and that they feel something when they do. My most important message is that you shouldn’t be afraid to try new things and put your thoughts on paper—and definitely don’t worry about what people think.”
The collection features an aesthetic inspired by nostalgic imagery and vintage fashion trends. The family of graphic characters depicts familiar faces you might have seen in your childhood, but instead of being cute and comforting, they create a sense of surrealism and fantasy.
The collection consists of oversized T-shirts, denim shorts, a chili-print tracksuit, and fluffy jackets, which, with their bright and bold colors, create a world of fun and a safe space for true independence.
The effortless vibe of the design makes the wearer feel unique and confident.
When it comes to footwear, Frost has reimagined the adidas Originals Forum High and Forum Low in a way that only he can. The KF Forum Hi Humanchives subverts the iconic white-and-blue Forum silhouette and boasts a TPU-molded, nose-shaped lace tag, a silicone mouth, and fangs on the toe cap, and Kerwin Frost branding on the ankle strap.
Meanwhile, the KF Forum Lo Benchmate comes to life with a print featuring the collection’s graphic characters and is available in an eye-catching colorway of Clear Mint/Bright Blue/Solar Yellow.
The collection comes to life through a playful, energetic lookbook shot by Vijat Mohindra, starring Chief Keef.
The first complete adidas Originals by Kerwin Frost collection is undeniably fun, youthfully naive, and laid-back. It launches worldwide on November 17. We’ll keep you posted.
