The Carhartt WIP spring/summer 2024 collection builds on the most important classics and takes a multi-faceted approach that includes Ivy League-inspired sportswear, functional outdoor items and eye-catching all-over prints.
A range of proven models made from Carhartt's signature Dearborn canvas and durable denim - available in “rinsed” and “aged” versions - such as the Detroit Jacket and Double Knee Pant are directly related to the brand's roots.
In contrast, there are items with an all-over heart print inspired by an archival bandana, including a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and a T-shirt.
Woven structures such as herringbone, drell and twill are enhanced by strong colors and yarn-dyed surfaces.
New this season are the Rainer shirt jacket and shorts, which are available in magenta and sunny yellow.
All-over check patterns, such as the S/S Mika shirt, are made from a soft, brushed cotton fabric. At the interface between prep and sportswear, there are items such as the Class of 89 Bomber Jacket and the striped Linus shirts, which are decorated with college-style embroidery.
In addition, the new Otley series features simple, satin-finished items with a tonal square label, a bomber jacket, a weekend bag and a bucket hat.
The S/S24 collection also focuses on the outdoor sector, with the models being more functional but also inspired by classic military clothing.
This includes the new Madock parka, which has an A-shaped fishtail silhouette and is made from unlined, single-layer canvas.
Accessories with the brand's new, discounted military label complete the range. A range of midsummer garments shows a sense for graphics and prints.
As always, there is an eclectic approach, with motifs reminiscent of old Carhartt WIP advertising, floral woodcut prints and hand-drawn illustrations that recall a summer on the French Riviera.
These appear on classic cotton T-shirts, but also on viscose and poplin shirts and shorts.
Carhartt WIP is at 43 and a half, AFEW Store, Allike, Asphaltgold, The stable, HHV, Number Ten, pacemaker, SneakerTwins, SUPPA and VOOstore available.
