A: Wie lange bist Du schon im Sneaker Game und wie bist Du da rein geraten? Mit welchem Modell hast Du angefangen?<\/p>\n

Y: Bei mir ging es schon fr\u00fch los. Ich war 12 oder 13 Jahre alt und mein erstes Paar war ein Air Force 1. <\/p>\n

Mit etwa 15, 16 Jahren ging es mit dem Sammeln los, das war zu der Zeit wo ich in England mit meinem Design-Studium begann. Meine Eltern sind in der Zeit umgezogen und haben leider meine komplette Sammlung weggeworfen. Dabei war auch ein Dunk SB Heineken, das belastet mich bis heute. <\/p>\n

A: Gibt es einen Trend in der Sneakerszene, den Du vermisst oder \u00fcber den Du froh bist, dass er verschwunden ist?<\/p>\n

Y: Die gesamte Sneakerszene hat sich im Vergleich zu vor 10 Jahren drastisch ver\u00e4ndert. Es gibt immer noch einige tolle Sneaker-Communities, die sich gegenseitig helfen. Aber das ganze Game mit dem Wiederverkauf von Turnschuhen ist etwas das ich gerne eines Tages abgeschafft sehen w\u00fcrde. Von „Oh das ist ein sch\u00f6nes Paar Sneaker das Du da tr\u00e4gst“ zu „Oh der Sneaker ist $$$$$ wert“.<\/p>\n

A: Wie wichtig sind echte Sneaker Stores im Vergleich zum Online-Handel f\u00fcr Dich?<\/p>\n

Y: Eine Sache, die noch wichtiger ist als Turnschuhe, ist das Gespr\u00e4ch mit den Leuten im Laden. Ich bin sehr gerne lange in einem Laden um mit den Mitarbeitern zu sprechen. Das ist ein gro\u00dfer Unterschied zwischen dem station\u00e4ren und dem Online-Handel. Diese menschliche Interaktion.<\/p>\n

A: Wie lagerst Du Deine Sneakersammlung?<\/p>\n

Y: In einem Regal, einige sind noch in ihren Boxen.<\/p>\n

A: Tr\u00e4gst du alle deine Sneaker oder gibt es welche, die „zu gut f\u00fcr die Stra\u00dfe“ sind?<\/p>\n

Y: Ich versuche alle meine Sneaker zu tragen, aber aufgrund der aktuellen Zeit mit den Lockdowns, habe ich es nicht immer geschafft.. Ich gebe mein Bestes, um alle meine Sneaker zu tragen, bis zu dem Punkt, an dem ich ein Jahr lang jeden Tag Fotos davon mache, was ich trage. A: Hast Du Rituale, zum Beispiel beim Auspacken eines neuen Sneakers?<\/p>\n

Y: Beim Unboxing schaue ich IMMER zuerst nach anderen Dingen, die in der Box sind, bevor ich zu den Schuhen komme. Ich mag kleine Extras und eine pers\u00f6nliche Note. Einfach etwas Besonderes. Wenn ich alles im Karton kontrolliert habe, \u00fcberpr\u00fcfe ich zuerst die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe auf dem Schuhkarton, bevor ich zu den eigentlichen Schuhen komme.<\/p>\n

A: Bist Du penibel? Zum Beispiel mit dem Lacing oder tr\u00e4gst Du Deine Kleidung abgestimmt auf die Schuhe?<\/p>\n

Y: Ich neige dazu, meine Kleidung recht einfach zu halten. Normalerweise nur eine graue Hose oder eine japanische Jeans und ein einfaches Oberteil. Das passt normalerweise gut zu allen Schuhen. Die Socken sind normalerweise wei\u00df, weil das einfach ist und zu allem passt.<\/p>\n

A: Putzt Du Deine Sneaker, wenn ja, wie?<\/p>\n

Y: Ich versuche, sie einmal pro Woche zu reinigen (die, die ich trage). Dabei nutze ich verschiedene Produkte. Von Collonil Carbon, DFNS, Bama Urban Element. Nenn irgendeinen Namen, ich hab sie alle ausprobiert.<\/p>\n

A: Auf welchen Release wartest Du gerade?<\/p>\n

Y: Im Moment habe ich nichts auf dem Radar, aber ich bin sicher, dass fr\u00fcher oder sp\u00e4ter wieder ein Paar daherkommt.<\/p>\n

A: Welcher Schuh soll wieder released werden?<\/p>\n

Y: Das ist eine schwierige Frage. Ich selbst besitze keinen Jordan 1 \u201cChicago\u201d und ich h\u00e4tte gerne irgendwann mal einen.<\/p>\n

Y: Ja, ein paar gef\u00e4lschte Bapesta bei eBay\u2026 das war eine schmerzhafte Erkenntnis. Ich hab sie einem Freund geschenkt.<\/p>\n

Y: Ich liebe es zu reisen, zu essen und zu wandern. Wann immer ich Zeit finde, versuche ich, wandern zu gehen. Wenn ich nicht wandern gehe, versuche ich, ein paar Pl\u00e4tze zum Essen zu finden und verschiedene Gerichte zu probieren.<\/p>\n

A: Who are you? Can you briefly introduce yourself?<\/p>\n

Y: I’m Yuki. Born in Japan. Raised half in Thailand and Japan. Studied in the UK. Worked in Japan. Currently living in Germany.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: How long have you been in the sneaker universe, how did you get into it? With which model did you start?<\/p>\n

Y: My interest in sneakers started when I was quite young, at around 12-13 years old and it all started with a pair of AF1. My collection didn\u2019t start until when I was 15-16 but when I moved to the UK to pursue my university education in design.<\/p>\n

My parents were moving houses at that time and threw away all my sneakers collection, including the Dunk SB Heineken, which I still regret today. But after my university education, I moved back to Japan and started collecting sneakers again since I lived next to Mita Sneakers.<\/p>\n

A: Are you a member of a \u201cSneaker Meetup“?<\/p>\n

Y: Yes, one in Cologne and D\u00fcsseldorf and used to host one in Tokyo as well.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a Go-To store in Germany?<\/p>\n

Y: AFEW-Store <\/a>& Overkill.<\/p>\n

A: Does your collection have a focus?<\/p>\n

Y: Not really, I buy what I like in any brand.<\/p>\n

A: Is there a trend in the sneaker scene that you miss or are glad to see gone?<\/p>\n

Y: The whole sneakers scene has shifted drastically in comparison to 10 years ago. There are still some amazing sneaker-communities out there who are still trying to help each other. But the whole sneakers reselling game is something that I want to see gone one day. From being „oh! That a nice pair of sneakers you have“ to „oh! That\u2019s worth $$$$$“.<\/p>\n

A: How important are „real sneaker stores“ to you compared to online retail?<\/p>\n

Y: One thing that is more important than sneakers is actually talking to the people instore. I can be in a store for a long time, talking to the store staff. That is a big difference between instore and online. That human interaction.<\/p>\n

A: How do you store your collection?<\/p>\n

Y: On a shelf and some are still in boxes.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: Do you wear all your sneakers or are there some that are „too good for the street“?<\/p>\n

Y: I try my best to wear all my sneakers but due to the current years under lockdown, I haven\u2019t been able to wear all my sneakers. I try my best to wear all my sneakers to the point I take pictures of what I am wearing every day for a year. Check it out #whatsonyukisfeettoday<\/a> on Instagram.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have rituals, for example when unpacking a new shoe?<\/p>\n

Y: When I do my unboxing, I ALWAYS check other things that are inside the box first before even getting to the shoes. I like little messages and personalization. Just something special. Once I checked everything inside the box then I check the size on the sneakers box first before I even get to the actual sneakers.<\/p>\n

A: Are you meticulous? For example, lacing, matching clothes, etc?<\/p>\n

Y: I tend to keep my clothes quite simple. Usually just a pair of grey trousers or Japanese denim and a simple top. Usually goes well with any shoes. Socks are usually white just because it\u2019s easy and goes well with everything.<\/p>\n

A: Do you clean your sneakers, if so how?<\/p>\n

Y: I try to clean them once a week (the one I wear) with various products that I have. From Collonil Carbon, DFNS, Bama Urban element. You name it, I tried them all.<\/p>\n

A: Which release are you looking forward to right now?<\/p>\n

Y: Nothing in my radar at the moment but I am sure there will be some pair releasing sooner or later<\/p>\n

A: Bring it back. Which shoe should come back?<\/p>\n

Y: That\u2019s a tough question, I personally do not own a Jordan 1 \u201cChicago\u201d and would love to have that one day.<\/p>\n

A: Have you ever „accidentally“ bought a fake sneaker?<\/p>\n

Y: Yes, a pair of fake Bapesta off eBay\u2026 It was a painful realisation. So I just gave them to a friend for free.<\/p>\n

A: What do you wear when you are not wearing sneakers?<\/p>\n

Y: Been working at home for a while now so usually the Yeezy Slide or Foam Runners at home.<\/p>\n

A: What are you doing when you are not dedicating yourself to your sneaker hobby\/lifestyle?<\/p>\n

Y: I love traveling, eating, and hiking. Whenever I find time, I try to go out hiking. If not hiking then I try to find some places to eat and trying different food.<\/p>\n
