R: Hi, mein Name ist Rainer Imhoff<\/a>, bin 33 Jahre jung und wohne in Erftstadt bei K\u00f6ln. Aufgewachsen bin ich in M\u00fcnster und habe im wundersch\u00f6nen Ruhrgebiet \/ Essen Lehramt (Sek1) Sport und Englisch studiert. Momentan mache ich eine Weiterbildung zum Sonderp\u00e4dagogen an einer Gesamtschule in Swisttal. <\/p>\n

Ich habe vor knapp 9 Jahren die Gruppe SauconySneaks <\/a>zusammen mit einem Freund aus Kiel gegr\u00fcndet.<\/p>\n

A: Wie lange bist Du schon im Sneakeruniversum, wie kamst Du da rein? Mit welchem Modell ging es los?<\/p>\n

R: So richtig kann ich das nicht beziffern. Meine Leidenschaft zu Turnschuhen begann schon relativ fr\u00fch, konnte mir aber nicht wirklich das leisten, was mir gefiel. Zumindest habe ich meine Eltern als 12-13 j\u00e4hriger schon von Gesch\u00e4ft zu Gesch\u00e4ft in Paris gef\u00fchrt (das halten sie mir immer vor). <\/p>\n

Ich war immer ein Swooshkind. Mein erster bewusster Kauf war der Air180 Ultramarine (2009), gekauft als Belohnung f\u00fcr mein bestandenes Abitur. Danach ging es dann richtig los, weil ich mein erstes richtiges Geld verdienen konnte.<\/p>\n

A: Du bist Saucony Sammler? Wie kam es dazu? Mit welchem Modell hast Du da angefangen?<\/p>\n

R: Ich bin schnell in die HardcorePunk Szene (M\u00fcnster und Ruhrgebiet) reingerutscht, bei der schon immer Turnschuhe einen wichtigen Teil des Outfits darstellten. <\/p>\n

Auch Saucony, da die Paare h\u00e4ufig vegan waren. Ich kann mich noch erinnern, dass Freunde (Jonas aus Darmstadt und Jan aus D\u00fcsseldorf) damals turnschuhm\u00e4ssig unterwegs waren und ich \u00fcber die beiden an Saucony gekommen bin. <\/p>\n

Damals gab es wenige bekannte Stores, die Saucony im Portfolio hatten. Meinen ersten habe ich mir dann bei Asphaltgold<\/a> gekauft, einen Shadow90 „Black\/Lemon“. Den besitze ich auch heute noch, auch wenn ich ihn schon Jahre nicht mehr getragen habe. Das muss 2011 gewesen sein.<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du ein Lieblingsmodell von Saucony?<\/p>\n

R: Wenn ich mich f\u00fcr ein Modell entscheiden muss, dann ist es der Shadow6000. Eine Begr\u00fcndung habe ich nicht. Das war schon immer irgendwie meine erste Wahl, wobei ich auch die Hybriden G9Shadow5 und G9Shadow6 gerne trage.<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du eine Lieblings Collab von Saucony?<\/p>\n

R: Puh! Ich glaube alle erwarten, dass ich die AchtAmsterdam „Invictus“ Collaboration nenne, den Alltime Grail. <\/p>\n

Ich w\u00fcrde aber fast behaupten, dass ich den roten Shadow6000 in Zusammenarbeit mit Alife Rivington Club am st\u00e4rksten finde. <\/p>\n

Der ist einfach sehr simpel und trotzdem gut. Geht immer und war auch ein Paar, welches ich lange gesucht habe.<\/p>\n

A: Gibt es ein Modell, welches Dir in Deiner Sammlung fehlt?<\/p>\n

R: Modell oder Collaboration? Modell k\u00f6nnte ich nicht benennen, freue mich aber auf die anstehenden Releases des Omni 9 und des Triumph 4. Modelle, die wieder aus den Archiven rausgeholt und abgestaubt werden. <\/p>\n

Wenn ich ein Collaboration nennen m\u00fcsste, dann habe ich den ShadowOG x 24Kilates „Mar“ (unten rechts, Anm. d. Red.) verpasst. Der gef\u00e4llt mir in seiner kompletten Art und Weise unfassbar gut.<\/p>\n

R: Gerade, bzw. heute, habe ich den 3D Grid Hurricane in dem blau-wei\u00dfen Colorway getragen. Ein super Schuh f\u00fcr den allt\u00e4glichen Gebrauch.<\/p>\n

R: Den letzten Saucony, den ich mir gekauft habe, war der Grid9000 x Sneakerfreakermag „Bushwhacker“, auch wenn ich den Grid9000 nicht ganz so mag. Ich musste den einfach haben. <\/p>\n

Ansonsten bekomme ich massiven Support von der Brand. Danke an Sasha<\/a> von SauconyOriginals Germany, der mich unfassbar unterst\u00fctzt.<\/p>\n

A: Welchen Sneaker trauerst Du nach, also welchen hast Du stehen lassen und es dann bereut?<\/p>\n

R: Ich bereue es, den Footpatrol „Only in Soho“ verkauft zu haben, musste mir aber meine K\u00fcche finanzieren.<\/p>\n

R: Leider nein. Ich warte noch auf Franz Bauer, dass der mich zum K\u00f6lner Stammtisch einl\u00e4dt :D.<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du einen Go-To Laden in Deutschland?<\/p>\n

R: Naja, naheliegend waren damals TGWO und Acribik, die ja leider nicht mehr hier sind. Ich gehe aber gerne Sascha<\/a> bei Overkill besuchen. <\/p>\n

Ansonsten war schon immer einer meiner Lieblingsstores Asphaltgold<\/a>. Michael Soprano<\/a> habe ich immer auf Shows getroffen und Daniel<\/a> durfte ich mal bei dem Praise Stammtisch kennenlernen. Selten so einen angenehmen Mensch getroffen.<\/p>\n

A: Welche Brand ist Deiner Meinung nach zu unrecht unter dem Radar?<\/p>\n

R: Klamotten oder Schuhe? Ich finde, dass NoahNYC nach wie vor zu wenig Liebe f\u00fcr die Arbeit bekommt. <\/p>\n

Mein halber Schrank besteht aus Klamotten von NoahNYC. Ansonsten finde ich es sehr schade, dass Raised by Wolves auf dem europ\u00e4ischen Markt nicht mehr so pr\u00e4sent ist. <\/p>\n

Au\u00dferdem finde ich, dass Saucony immer noch zu Unrecht unter dem Radar l\u00e4uft. Alleine die Made in Portugal und bald die Made in Italy sind herausragend. <\/p>\n

Des Weiteren steht hinter jeder Collaboration eine Geschichte, unfassbar viele Details und Liebe, sowie ein Konzept, was man bei den „gro\u00dfen“ Brands ja nicht immer behaupten kann.<\/p>\n

A: Wie bewahrst Du Deine Sammlung auf?<\/p>\n

R: Im Arbeitszimmer in den Boxen. Nichts besonderes. <\/p>\n

A: Gibt es einen Trend in der Sneakerszene, den Du vermisst oder \u00fcber den Du froh bist, dass er nicht mehr zu sehen ist?<\/p>\n

R: Schwierige Frage. Mir fehlt die Nische ein bisschen. Was fr\u00fcher als sehr kleine famili\u00e4re Szene wahrgenommen wurde, ist jetzt ein gro\u00dfer Markt. Sehr romantisch, aber das ist der Lauf der Dinge, der auch gro\u00dfe Chancen bietet. <\/p>\n

Und um ehrlich zu sein, komme ich bei den ganzen Trends nicht mehr mit, verstehe vieles auch nicht. Aber auch da ist es vielleicht einfach eine Entwicklung zur Einfachheit.<\/p>\n

A: Reinigst Du Deine Sneaker, wenn ja wie?<\/p>\n

R: Klar! Das ist f\u00fcr mich ein Abschalten vom Schulalltag, hat schon was meditatives. <\/p>\n

Klingt komisch, aber ich versuche alle Schuhe, die ich getragen habe, immer am Ende der Woche zu putzen. Einen Abschluss mit dem stressigen Alltag in der Schule finden, klappt aber in letzter Zeit etwas seltener.<\/p>\n

A: Bist Du penibel? Zum Beispiel Lacing, Matching der Kleidung etc?<\/p>\n

R: Ich w\u00fcrde mich nicht als penibel beschreiben, aber ich versuche schon, dass alles zusammenpasst und die Farben der Schuhe sich zum Beispiel im Shirt wiederfinden. Das ist ein Fluch, der mich morgens h\u00e4ufig zur Verzweiflung bringt. <\/p>\n

An Jan<\/a> komme ich um Welten nicht dran. Aber generell bin ich Freund der Einfachheit und der kleinen Details. Und na klar: Lacing ist das Erste, was passiert, wenn ich einen Schuhe bekomme.<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du Rituale, beispielsweise beim Auspacken eines neuen Schuhs?<\/p>\n

R: N\u00f6, eigentlich nicht, au\u00dfer, dass ich mich immer freue, Schuhe auszupacken.<\/p>\n

A: Auf welchen Release freust Du Dich gerade?<\/p>\n

R: Oben ja schon beschrieben auf den Omni 9 und Triumph 4, aber da kommt noch einiges, bei dem ich mir nicht sicher bin, ob ich das alles schon verraten darf.<\/p>\n

A: Wie wichtig sind Dir \u201cechte Sneakerstores\u201d im Vergleich zu Online Retail.<\/p>\n

R: Puh! Da mache ich mir eigentlich keine Gedanken dr\u00fcber. Aber es l\u00e4uft schon meistens \u00fcber die „echten Sneakerstores<\/a>„.<\/p>\n

A: Tr\u00e4gst Du all Deine Sneaker oder gibt es welche, die „zu schade f\u00fcr die Stra\u00dfe“ sind?<\/p>\n

R: Ich trage generell alles.<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du eine Sneaker-Anekdote, die Du teilen m\u00f6chtest?<\/p>\n

R: Ich habe eigentlich zu fast allen Schuhen immer eine kleine Geschichte oder zumindest Erinnerungen. Am sch\u00f6nsten war der Release vom Footpatrol „Only in Soho“. <\/p>\n

Ich war durch Zufall an dem Wochenende in London. Ich wei\u00df noch, dass ich vor Ort war, aber wieder gegangen bin, da zeitgleich der TGWO „Autobahn“ released wurde und die Schlange einfach zu lang war. <\/p>\n

Als ich dann abends wieder hingefahren bin, war der Soho nat\u00fcrlich sold out, bis einer der Verk\u00e4ufer mich gefragt hat, welche Gr\u00f6\u00dfe ich brauche. <\/p>\n

Er hatte einen Beiseite gepackt f\u00fcr einen Bekannten, der nie erschienen ist. So hat er mir den verkauft. Macht den Abschied und den Kummer nat\u00fcrlich noch schwieriger.<\/p>\n

A: Gibt es eine Lieblingsmusik, die Du empfehlen kannst oder eine Fernsehserie oder Film, den wir uns ansehen sollten?<\/p>\n

R: Ich lebe in meiner Peaky Blinders<\/em> \/ The Wire<\/em> Welt. Kein Geheimtipp.<\/p>\n

R: Hi, my name is Rainer Imhoff<\/a>, I am 33 years young and living in Erftstadt near Cologne, Germany. I founded the group SauconySneaks<\/a> together with a friend from Kiel about 9 years ago.<\/p>\n

A: How long have you been in the sneaker universe, how did you get into it? With which model did you start?<\/p>\n

R: I can’t really put a number on it. My passion for sneakers started relatively early, but I couldn’t really afford what I liked. <\/p>\n

At least, I was taking my parents from store to store in Paris when I was 12-13 years old (they always hold that against me). <\/p>\n

I’ve always been a swoosh kid. My first conscious purchase was the Air180 Ultramarine (2009), bought as a reward for passing my high school diploma. After that, things really took off because I was able to earn my first real money.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: You are a Saucony collector? How did it come to that? <\/p>\n

R: I quickly slipped into the hardcore punk scene (M\u00fcnster and Ruhr area), where sneakers have always been an important part of the outfit. <\/p>\n

Also Saucony, because the pairs were often vegan. I can still remember my friends (Jonas from Darmstadt and Jan from Dusseldorf) were into sneakers and that got me involved as well.<\/p>\n

At that time, there were only a few well-known stores that had Saucony in their portfolio. I bought my first pair at Asphaltgold, a Shadow90 „Black\/Lemon“. I still own it today, even though I haven’t worn it in years. That must have been in 2011.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a favorite Saucony model? <\/p>\n

R: If I have to choose one model, it’s the Shadow6000. I don’t have a reason. It has always been my first choice, but I also like to wear the hybrids G9Shadow5 and G9Shadow6.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a favorite Saucony collab?<\/p>\n

R: Phew! I think everyone expects me to name the AchtAmsterdam „Invictus“ Collaboration, the all-time Grail. But I would say that I think the red Shadow6000 in collaboration with Alife Rivington Club is the strongest. It’s just very simple but still good. Works with everything and was also a pair I was looking for for a long time.<\/p>\n

A: Is there a model you are missing in your collection? <\/p>\n

R: Model or Collaboration? I couldn’t name a model, but I’m looking forward to the upcoming releases of the Omni 9 and Triumph 4. <\/p>\n

Models that will be brought back out of the archives and are dusted off. If I had to name a collaboration, I missed the ShadowOG x 24Kilates „Mar“. I really like this one in its complete style.<\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker are you wearing right now?<\/p>\n

R: Just now, or today, I wore the 3D Grid Hurricane in the blue and white colorway. A great shoe for the everyday use.<\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker did you buy last? <\/p>\n

R: The last Saucony I bought was the Grid9000 x Sneakerfreakermag „Bushwhacker“, even though I don’t really like the Grid9000. I just had to have this one. Other than that, I get massive support from the brand. <\/p>\n

A: What do you wear when you are not wearing sneakers?<\/p>\n

R: Ehm, Birkenstock or the HydroMoc from Merrel (Subsidiary of Saucony).<\/p>\n

A: Bring it back. Which shoe should come back? <\/p>\n

R: I don’t have the same overview of the archives as Sergey<\/a> from Russia, for example, but I’ve been wishing for the Crosswave for quite some time now, so maybe the American design team will finally hear me out! <\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker do you mourn, i.e. which one did you ditch and then regret?<\/p>\n

R: I regret selling the Footpatrol „Only in Soho“ but had to finance my kitchen.<\/p>\n

A: Are you a member of a Sneakerstammtisch? <\/p>\n

R: Unfortunately no. I’m still waiting for Franz Bauer to invite me to the Cologne Stammtisch :D.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a Go-To store in Germany?<\/p>\n

R: Well, TGWO and Acribik were close at that time, but unfortunately they are not here anymore. <\/p>\n

But I like to visit Sascha<\/a> at Overkill. Otherwise, one of my favorite stores has always been Asphaltgold. I often met Michael Soprano<\/a> at shows and Daniel<\/a> at the Praise Stammtisch. I have rarely met such a pleasant person.<\/p>\n

A: Which brand do you think is under the radar?<\/p>\n

R: Clothes or shoes? I still think NoahNYC gets too little love for their work. Half of my closet consists of clothes from NoahNYC. Other than that, I think it’s a shame that Raised by Wolves is not as present on the European market anymore. <\/p>\n

I also think that Saucony is still unfairly under the radar. The Made in Portugal and soon the Made in Italy are outstanding. Furthermore, there is a story behind every collaboration, an incredible amount of details and love, as well as a concept, which is not always the case with the „big“ brands.<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: How do you store your collection?<\/p>\n

R: In the study in the boxes. Nothing special. <\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: Is there a trend in the sneaker scene that you miss or are glad to see gone?<\/p>\n

R: Difficult question. I miss the niche a little bit. What used to be perceived as a very small family scene is now a big market. Very romantic, but that’s the way of things, which also offers great opportunities. <\/p>\n

And to be honest, I don’t keep up with all the trends anymore, don’t understand a lot of them either. But there, too, maybe it’s simply a development towards simplicity.<\/p>\n

A: Do you clean your sneakers, and if so, how? <\/p>\n

R: Of course! For me, it’s a way of switching off from everyday school life, it is meditative for me. It sounds strange, but I always try to clean all the shoes I’ve worn at the end of the week. <\/p>\n

Finding a closure with the stressful everyday life at school, however, works out a little less often lately.<\/p>\n

A: Are you meticulous? For example, lacing, matching clothes etc.?<\/p>\n

R: I wouldn’t describe myself as fastidious, but I do try to make sure that everything matches and that the colors of the shoes are reflected in the shirt, for example. It’s a curse that often drives me to despair in the morning. <\/p>\n

I don’t come close to Jan<\/a> though. But in general, I’m a fan of simplicity and small details. And of course: Lacing is the first thing that happens when I get a shoe.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have rituals, for example when unpacking a new shoe?<\/p>\n

R: No, not really, except that I’m always happy to unpack shoes.<\/p>\n

A: Which release are you looking forward to right now?<\/p>\n

R: The Omni 9 and Triumph 4 have already been described above, but there are still a few things to come that I’m not sure I’m allowed to reveal.<\/p>\n

A: How important are „real sneaker stores“ to you compared to online retail?<\/p>\n

R: Phew! I don’t really think about it. But most of the time I purchase at the „real sneaker stores“.<\/p>\n

A: Do you wear all your sneakers or are there some that are „too good for the street“?<\/p>\n

R: I generally wear everything.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a sneaker anecdote you would like to share?<\/p>\n

R: I actually have a little story or at least memories to almost all shoes. The best one was the release of the Footpatrol „Only in Soho“. I was in London that weekend by chance. I remember that I was on site, but left again, because at the same time the TGWO „Autobahn“ was released and the queue was just too long. <\/p>\n

When I went back in the evening, the Soho was, of course, sold out until one of the salesmen asked me what size I needed. He had packed one aside for an acquaintance who never showed up. That’s how he sold it to me. Makes the goodbyes and grief even harder, of course.<\/p>\n
