O: Ich bin eher zuf\u00e4llig dazu gekommen – auf professioneller Ebene – als Nike jemanden f\u00fcr die Betreuung von Sneaker-\/Modeboutiquen in Istanbul suchte, w\u00e4hrend ich eigentlich Musikfestivals und Events machte. <\/p>\n

Auf pers\u00f6nlicher Ebene geht es wahrscheinlich auf meine fr\u00fchen Basketballjahre zur\u00fcck.<\/p>\n

A: Mit welchem Modell hast du angefangen?<\/p>\n

O: Mit dem klassischen Chuck Taylor All Star in der High School, aber z\u00e4hlt das \u00fcberhaupt? Der Air Max 1 war der Nachfolger.<\/p>\n

O: Immer noch ASICS – sie waren in den letzten Jahren am innovativsten und es sieht so aus, als w\u00fcrde das auch nicht aufh\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n

O: Ich habe versucht sie in den letzten 1-2 Jahren ziemlich minimal zu halten, es sind jetzt nur etwa 10 Sneaker, und ich kaufe nicht viel, und ich versuche definitiv, nicht auf die Trends aufzuspringen.<\/p>\n

A: Wie lagerst Du Deine Sneakersammlung?<\/p>\n

O: Ohne besondere Sorgfalt, einfach in ihren Kisten \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A: Gibt es einen Trend in der Sneakerszene, den Du vermisst oder \u00fcber den Du froh bist, dass er verschwunden ist?<\/p>\n

O: Der \u00fcbertriebene Kollaborationshype kann gerne nachlassen, mehr als 4-5 Collabs pro Marke im Jahr brauchen wir wirklich nicht.<\/p>\n

A: Du hast f\u00fcr Nike in Istanbul gearbeitet, gibt es dort einen kulturellen Unterschied in der Sneakerszene, oder ist die Liebe zu Sneakers interkulturell und \u00fcberall gleich?<\/p>\n

O: Auf jeden Fall. Leider gibt es dort keine weitreichende Sneaker Historie, im Vergleich zu Air Max hier in Berlin und Deutschland. Der Trend ist erst in den letzten 10 Jahren oder so aufgekommen, also ist die Konsumentenbasis recht jung und auch noch nicht etabliert. Dennoch ist es eine Stadt mit fast 20 Millionen Einwohnern, das Potenzial ist also riesig.<\/p>\n

A: Welchen Trend siehst Du am Horizont?<\/p>\n

O: Ich hoffe auf viel einfachere, zweckm\u00e4\u00dfige und minimalistische Sneaker-Kollektionen f\u00fcr alle.<\/p>\n

A: Reinigst Du Deine Sneaker, wenn ja, wie?<\/p>\n

O: Niemals :), ich trage, strapaziere und beanspruche sie. Ich sorge daf\u00fcr, dass sie ein spannendes, aber schmerzhaftes Leben haben, aber voll und ganz leben, und ziehe sie aus dem Verkehr, wenn die Zeit reif ist.<\/p>\n

O: Ich schn\u00fcre meine Schuhe immer auf dem Knie, als ob ich meiner Freundin einen Heiratsantrag machen w\u00fcrde. Das f\u00fchrte dazu, dass sie immer den Blickkontakt vermeidet wenn ich das tue \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A: Hast Du Rituale, zum Beispiel beim Auspacken eines neuen Sneakers?<\/p>\n

O: Oh nein, ich trage sie einfach sofort und hoffe, dass sie so schnell wie m\u00f6glich schmutzig werden und abgenutzt aussehen. Ich mag es nicht, wenn Turnschuhe 100%ig neu aussehen und gl\u00e4nzen – besonders wei\u00dfe Lederschuhe.<\/p>\n

A: Auf welchen Release wartest Du gerade?<\/p>\n

O: Im April kommt eine spezielle ASICS-Kollaboration heraus, die ich leider noch nicht verraten kann, aber ich habe mich seit dem Nike Mars Yard 2.0 nicht mehr so sehr auf einen Schuh gefreut.<\/p>\n

O: Direkt bei einer Marke zu bestellen – ich glaube, das habe ich nie getan. Ich versuche immer, bei Gesch\u00e4ften zu bestellen, die ich mag und sch\u00e4tze, auch wenn es sich um Online-Shopping handelt.<\/p>\n

O: Ich habe meinen Nike Mars Yard 2.0 einmal in einem Kopfkissenbezug in die Waschmaschine gesteckt, weil er einen Motor\u00f6lfleck hatte, wahrscheinlich die stressigste Stunde meines Lebens. <\/p>\n

Das Wildleder und die Farbe sind ein bisschen abgetragen, aber das war mir am Ende egal. Jetzt sind L\u00f6cher drauf, aber es sind noch immer meine Lieblingssneaker.<\/p>\n

O: I\u2019m just a lucky guy who managed to do what he has desire for \u2013 for the past 10 years, and found myself in Berlin 1.5 years ago. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A: How long have you been in the sneaker universe, how did you get into it?<\/p>\n

O: I got into it quite randomly \u2013 on the professional level \u2013 where Nike was trying to find someone to manage sneaker \/ fashion boutiques in Istanbul, while I was actually doing music festivals and events. <\/p>\n

On a personal level, it probably dates to my early basketball years.<\/p>\n

A: With which model did you start?<\/p>\n

O: Chuck 70 classic in high school but does it even count? Air Max 1 was the follow-up. <\/p>\n

A: Sneakers are a hobby, but for VooStore also a part of your work. What is your task at VooStore?<\/p>\n

O: Started as Marketing Manager & Sneaker Buyer \u2013 but now I\u2019d probably summarize to being all around the place and trying to expand business, make sure things are running smooth. <\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker are you wearing right now? <\/p>\n

O: Wearing the ASICS x Andersson Bell GEL-1090 in silver for the past 3-4 months probably, but removed the laces the first day as they looked too Off-White-y.<\/p>\n

A: What do you wear when you are not wearing sneakers? <\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker did you buy last privately?<\/p>\n

O: It\u2019s really been a while \u2013 could be ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 that I bought past summer.<\/p>\n

A: Bring it back..which shoe should come back for a re-release\/retro?<\/p>\n

O: If Nike ACG Air Terra Albis is not making a comeback in the next calendar year or so I\u2019ll be quite upset. <\/p>\n

A: Which sneaker do you mourn, i.e. which one did you ditch and then regret?<\/p>\n

O: Not a regret but I just couldn\u2019t find New Balance 990 v3 in my size (US 12.5) \u2013 which hurts the most these days.<\/p>\n

A: Are you a member of a \u201cSneaker Stammtisch\u201d \/ Sneaker Community?<\/p>\n

O: Actually no, never been as well \u2013 guess I\u2019m an outsider. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A: Which brand do you think is unjustly under the radar?<\/p>\n

O: Still ASICS tbh \u2013 they\u2019ve been the most innovative the past couple of years and seems like it won\u2019t be stopping as well.<\/p>\n

A: Does your private collection have a focus?<\/p>\n

O: I\u2019m really trying to keep it quite minimal for the past 1-2 years, it\u2019s only around 10 sneakers now, and not buying much, and definitely trying not to jump on the trends.<\/p>\n

A: How do you store your collection?<\/p>\n

O: No extra care, just in their boxes. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\u200d<\/p>\n

A: Is there a trend in the sneaker scene that you miss or are glad to see gone?<\/p>\n

O: The extensive collaboration hype is gladly fading away, it could even fade away faster. We really don\u2019t need more than 4-5 collaboration drops per brand a year. <\/p>\n

A: You worked for Nike in Istanbul, is there a cultural difference in the sneaker scene over there, or is the love for sneakers intercultural and the same everywhere?<\/p>\n

O: Definitely. Unfortunately, there is not much of a cultural heritage over there, per comparison to Air Max heritage here in Berlin & Germany. The trend is just picking up over the past 10 years or so, so the consumer base is quite young but also therefore, not established. Still, it\u2019s a city of almost 20 million, so the potential is huge.<\/p>\n

A: What trend do you see on the horizon?<\/p>\n

O: What I hope to see is a much more simpler, utilitarian and minimal collection for everyone.<\/p>\n

A: Do you clean your sneakers, if so how?<\/p>\n

O: Never :), I wear them, tear them out, tire & exhaust them, make sure they have a fun but painful life, yet live fully, and retire whenever the time is right.<\/p>\n

A: Are you meticulous? For example a special way of lacing or matching your clothes with your shoes etc?<\/p>\n

O: I always tie my shoes on my knee as if I\u2019m proposing to my girlfriend and she\u2019s always avoiding eye contact \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

A: Do you have rituals, for example when unpacking a new shoe?<\/p>\n

O: Oh no, just wear them out right away, hoping they get dirty & look worn asap. I don\u2019t like when sneakers are looking 100% new and shiny \u2013 especially white leather ones.<\/p>\n

A: Which release are you looking forward to right now?<\/p>\n

O: There is a special ASICS collab coming out around April that unfortunately I can\u2019t tease at the moment, but I haven\u2019t been this excited over a shoe since Mars Yard 2.0.<\/p>\n

A: How important are „real stores“ to you compared to online retail (ordering directly from the manufacturer for example)?<\/p>\n

O: Ordering directly from the brand \u2013 I think I never did. I always try to order from stores I love & appreciate even if it\u2019s online shopping.  <\/p>\n

A: Have you ever „accidentally“ bought a fake sneaker?<\/p>\n

O: LOL non, not if any of these retailers haven\u2019t fooled me to this day.<\/p>\n

A: Do you have a sneaker anecdote or more than one you would like to share?<\/p>\n

O: I\u2019ve put my Mars Yard 2.0 on the washing machine covered with a pillow sheet once as there was motor oil stain on it, probably the most stressful hour of my life. The suede and color wore off a bit, but I didn\u2019t care at the end. There are holes on it right now but still my favorite sneakers.<\/p>\n

A: Do you wear all your sneakers or are there some that are „too good for the street“?<\/p>\n

O: Ah no, I wear them all, selling for under retail those I wore few times but never was 100% satisfied with. <\/p>\n

O: Loving the new Salomon ACS Pro colorways!<\/p>\n

Aside from that, we do have bit time, but as VooStore we\u2019re working on our first sneaker collaboration to launch in Spring Summer 2023.<\/p>\n
